T h e m eeting was called to order by P resid en t B ertha M. Lee. T h e m inutes and roll call were read and approved, after w hich we enjoyed a program . T h e roll was called, then th e m inutes of the last m eeting were read and approved. T h e seniors have been p retty busy d u rin g th e ir E n g lish period, illu stra tin g th e ir personal anecdotes. A variety of good illu stratio n s are cu t o u t from the different m agazines. L ast F rid a y th e class of ’23 had th e ir class m eeting. T h e m ain feature being a debate discussing the q u es tion th a t m an is m ore revengeful th an w om an. Sorry to say d ear readers the affirm ative won and m an goes on as revengeful as ever. O ne to th e Yellow Jack ets of Salem , 17 to 23, and th e other to th e U niversity of O regon freshm en, 26 to 53. T he form er was played on the hom e floor, w hile th e latter was played at E ug en e. In th e Yellow Jack et gam e the team played entirely o u t of form . T eam w ork and b ask et shooting was away below p a r . H ad the team converted a th ird of th e ir easy shots they w ould have won h an d s dow n. G regg was the v isito rs’ sole basket-shooter and reg is tered 20 of th eir 22 points. H ad our g u ard s k ept track of him like they could have done, th e ir problem w ould have been solved. T h e E u g en e score would indicate a one sided affair, b u t for tw o short periods, one in each half, our boys would have played th e Frosh to a stan d still. A fter all b u t overcom ing a 14 point lead in th e second half o u r varsity closed up the gap to a 21 to 2 3 score w hen they took a sudden slum p and failed to recover till the close of th e gam e. V arsity, w ake up! N o team is licked till it q uits. “ A team th a t w o n ’t be beaten never can be b e a te n .” Dar.dro G eorge was our sh in in g lig h t in th is gam e and registered 14 of our 26 points, w hile B uchert m ade seven and DePoe and N orw est two each. H ard w ork < uts will be th e program for the re m ainder of the wet k and by F rid a y several changes are expected in the line-up th a t will sta rt the gam e against the U. of O. freshm en. In all probability B uchert will be sw itched fiom a forw ard to a g u ard position and will likely be replaced by N orw est or P hinney. A lbert O rsen gave cu rren t events th is m tru in g and w as very in terestin g . C ircles and perpendicular bisectors are th e chief su b je cts in geom etry at present. W ord has reached us to th e effect th a t Roy N uckolls, a g rad u ate of C hem aw a, was m arried recently at his hom e in Chico, C alifornia. All success to Roy and his bride.
