SE N IO R NOTES
VARSITY LOSES
S in ce th e last issue our v arsity has dropped two
gam es. O ne to th e Yellow Jack ets of Salem , 17 to 23,
and th e other to th e U niversity of O regon freshm en,
26 to 53. T he form er was played on the hom e floor,
w hile th e latter was played at E ug en e.
In th e Yellow Jack et gam e the team played entirely
o u t of form . T eam w ork and b ask et shooting was
away below p a r . H ad the team converted a th ird of
th e ir easy shots they w ould have won h an d s dow n.
G regg was the v isito rs’ sole basket-shooter and reg is
tered 20 of th eir 22 points. H ad our g u ard s k ept track
of him like they could have done, th e ir problem w ould
have been solved.
T h e E u g en e score would indicate a one sided affair,
b u t for tw o short periods, one in each half, our boys
would have played th e Frosh to a stan d still. A fter
all b u t overcom ing a 14 point lead in th e second half
o u r varsity closed up the gap to a 21 to 2 3 score w hen
they took a sudden slum p and failed to recover till the
close of th e gam e. V arsity, w ake up! N o team is
licked till it q uits. “ A team th a t w o n ’t be beaten
never can be b e a te n .”
Dar.dro G eorge was our sh in in g lig h t in th is gam e and
registered 14 of our 26 points, w hile B uchert m ade
seven and DePoe and N orw est two each.
H ard w ork < uts will be th e program for the re
m ainder of the wet k and by F rid a y several changes
are expected in the line-up th a t will sta rt the gam e
against the U. of O. freshm en. In all probability B uchert
will be sw itched fiom a forw ard to a g u ard position and
will likely be replaced by N orw est or P hinney.
A lbert O rsen gave cu rren t events th is m tru in g and
