Downs was pleased with his freshmen wrestlers, espe- cially Jesse Peskin (113 pounds), who had never wrestled before, and posted a second-place finish. Sophomores Anthony Randolph (145 pounds) and Sal Gibney (195 pounds) fin- ished third, and junior Jackson Robinson (220 pounds) fin- ished fourth. Fifth-place fin- ishers were: freshmen Chad Patterson (126 pounds) and Hunter Spor (160 pounds), sophomore Austin Pade (138 pounds), and junior Collin Harris (132 pounds). By Rongi Yost Correspondent The Outlaws com- peted in the Perry Burlison Invitational, held at Cascade High School on December 2. Sisters only had 11 varsity matmen at the tournament, and finished 17th out of the 24 teams in attendance. Crook County took first, Thurston placed second, Dalles took third, Cascade finished fourth, and Sweet Home was fifth. Sophomore Ethan Martin (195 pounds) was one of the Outlaws’ stand-out play- ers, and fought his way to a fifth-place finish. Sophomore Dylan Vantress (106) also had a good showing and finished sixth. Senior Casey Warburton (285 pounds) won three of his five matches. Warburton was one match away from the placing rounds, and was in a heavyweight class, giving up 20 pounds to other wrestlers. “We may not have had many wrestlers place in the tournament, but we had many wrestlers win matches, which helped our team score,” said Coach John Downs. “I told the team at the beginning that every point counts. I was very proud of the team.” The JV squad brought 13 wrestlers to the competi- tion, and did well in the JV tournament. The Outlaws have many upperclassmen who are com- peting for varsity spots, two of which (senior Damian Wills and senior Chayce Sproat) were in the JV tournament. Sproat pulled off a dominat- ing first-place finish at 195 — Last Week’s Puzzle Solved — I told the team at the beginning that every point counts. I was very proud of the team. — Coach John Downs “These tournaments are always a great starter for the season because it helps the team understand at what cali- ber they need to be wrestling at for the rest of the season,” said Downs. “It definitely helps pick up the tempo in practice and helps the wres- tlers set goals.” The Outlaws were to com- pete in a match at Summit on Tuesday, December 5.
