The Sisters Library will be closed on Monday, August 21, the day of the solar eclipse. Delivery services like FedEx, UPS and the U.S. Postal Service will be operat- ing, but there may be delays. Sisters City Hall will be open. Public works crews will stage equipment to set up a detour if traffic warrants it. That decision will be made by Oregon Department of Transportation officials. Garbage pickup in the downtown core will be done in the early morning, accord- ing to Nicole Abbenhuis of the City of Sisters Public Works Department. During the period from Thursday, August 17 through Tuesday, August 22, High Country Disposal is asking customers who have service on those days to put their garbage & recycling carts/ containers out by 10 p.m. the night before their service day. Collection times will begin at midnight, due to the increased traffic from the solar eclipse. The Cascades East Transit Sisters-to-Bend route will not operate on August 21 or August 22.
