8 Wednesday, August 16, 2017 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon Plenty of action during eclipse week With a tremendous of influx of people expected to come through and to Sisters this week, local outfits and music venues are offering plenty of action to keep peo- ple entertained whether or not their eyes are on the sky. • 2017 Aspen Lakes Total Eclipse Black Out Tournament is set for Monday, August 21, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The event includes 18 holes of golf at Aspen Lakes Golf Course; special eclipse cock- tails; a commemorative hat; viewing glasses and more. • The night sky photogra- phy of Austin James Jackson is on display in the “Sky Light” exhibit at Sisters Art Works. The community is invited to a reception for the artist on Friday, August 18, 4 to 7 p.m. • The Sisters Wild West Show is back on Cascade Avenue between Pine and Oak streets on Saturday and Sunday, August 18-19, featur- ing arts and crafts, a beer gar- den and barbecue, along with PHOTO PROVIDED Night Sky by Austin James Jackson. Great hair Western skits. On Saturday there will be five perfor- mances from noon to 4 p.m. and there will be four perfor- mances on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. There will be a Country & Western dance with Scott Brown and his band on Saturday night, 6 to 10 p.m. • The Anvil Blasters will play on the rec center lawn at Black Butte Ranch on Wednesday, August 16, at 6 p.m. The band will serve up its usual mix of Western Folk Americana with a seasoning of gunpowder and tequila. • The Food Cart Garden at Eurosports will feature BitterCreek Band with songs of Jimmy Buffet, The Eagles, Lumineers and more on Friday, August 18, followed on Saturday, August 19 by the folk music of NTT with Chris Brown. Start time is 5 p.m. • Local favorite Dennis McGregor & The Spoilers take the stage at Angeline’s Bakery courtyard on Friday evening, August 18, at 7 p.m. • “Might as well jump” at Hardtails Bar & Grill on Saturday night, August 19, with Unchained, a premier Van Halen Tribute that fea- tures searing, spot-on guitar tone and solos, distinctive vocal harmonies, and the high-energy stage perfor- mances and wild ‘n’ crazy antics of David Lee Roth. • Sisters Saloon serves up contemporary folk music from Parlour on Saturday night, starting at 8 p.m. Be safe during the eclipse! doesn’t happen by chance.
