TRADE IN ALL GRAIN IS LIMITED Butter Prices Take Upward Turn In Portland Market Dry Weather Curtails Pasturage and Reduces Supply. Whole corn advanced this week In Oregon City from $:il to $39 and Is one of the largest advances for a long time and the Indications are that The advance In butter Is due to the The dry weather has curtailed the nnainrA tn a considerable extent, and no Increase In the make msy be ex-1 pected until alter tne ran rains set in. This year's demand for butter from Alnnkn is much less than normal, and for that reason prices have not shown the quick response to tne snortenea supply that they usually do. Prices at Seattle are slightly lower than In Portland, Indicating that the Portland trade Is making an effort to force the northern market to a high er point. The advance was forced by makers, who likewise have connec tions in the north. HIDES (Buying Green hides, 5c to 6c; sailers, 5V4C to Cc; dry hides, 12c to 14c. Shtep pelts, 25c to 75c each. Prices of Hogs Advance But Sheep Have Downward Tendency. The Portland Union Stock Yards Company reports as follows: Receipts for tne week were zm cattle; 317 calves; 1408 hogs; 3598 sheep; 159 horses and 125 goats. The cattle market showed a more liberal supply than in some little time and prices may be said to have gone off 25. This applies to both cows and steers. Some of the sellers claim that extra good quality steers would have brought 6.25. the top of the week be fore, but generally considered, the market Is 25 cents lower, caives soia at full 25 cents lower, but even at the lower market prices cattle are easily hleher than any other market In the United States.
