In fact it is far better than one year ago nt this lime. The receipts for postage yesterday were $$50 and the chances are good for a larger figure to dav and tomorrow. The receipts of the office for this quarter are already larg er than the entire quarter of a year ago, and at the present rate, the lmsi lo ss of this last quarter of the year will exceed more than any quarter in the his tory of the postoffiee. For a time this fall there was doubt in the minds of nianv people as to whether Salem would have a Company M. For the benefit of those who were entertaining doubts, it may be said that the company has the number required by law and that recruits are coming in at a rate that will soon bring it to its former standard.
