Business is good at the Salem post
office. In fact it is far better than
one year ago nt this lime. The receipts
for postage yesterday were $$50 and the
chances are good for a larger figure to
dav and tomorrow. The receipts of the
office for this quarter are already larg
er than the entire quarter of a year
ago, and at the present rate, the lmsi
lo ss of this last quarter of the year will
exceed more than any quarter in the his
tory of the postoffiee.
For a time this fall there was doubt
in the minds of nianv people as to
whether Salem would have a Company
M. For the benefit of those who were
entertaining doubts, it may be said that
the company has the number required
by law and that recruits are coming in
at a rate that will soon bring it to its
former standard. Of the 75 men now
under the Company M standard. 42 live
in Salem and vicinity. Harry E. Fras
er. who was with the company on the
Mexican border, took the federal oath
yesterday.
