F. convention, which is being held here, and bands playing in the streets, the sports of this city are in pleasaut himor today over Bud Ander son's victory last night at Los Ange les. Late yesterday afternoon a lot of Mandot money struck town, and was taken at 10 to 9, but not as quickly as would be supposed, the Medford sports figuring that something was wrong. Telegrams were sent to Bud's camp; and the home boy's friends gob bled the money, and wished for more. That a set tlement of the Btrike of the California Light and Power council against the Pacific Gas & Electric Company may be brought about within a few days was the statement hero today of offi cials of the San Francisco Labor coun cil, who have been endeavoring to set tle the controversy by arbitration. Officers of the Light and Power council say that a meeting of the sev eral Btrike committees throughout the territory involved has becu called for this afternoon, when it ib expected that a definite conclusion will bo reached as to the methods of proced ure. The Ettolson report . also censured . tho white slavery and starvation wages, of which O'JIara was chairman, for the methodB employed in its invostiga- tions here, as a result of which Samuel Davis, who was forced to testify, pro cured Mrs. Robinson 's affidavit through rovengo. Davis also was bit terly censured.
