A Merry Christmas! To our many customers, old and new, That tho one hundred boys now at the State Training School may have an enjoyable Christmas day, is the expressed desire of Superintendent Halo. Among these boys, ranging ' ages from ten to eighteen, are a num ber who are homeless and friendless with no one but the State to whom to look for ChrlHtnms cheer. There- j fore It Is asked of all good people, who have a warm spot In their hearts for Iboys In general and a desire to make ! someone happy, that they share their blessings with these boys and show toward them tho truo spirit of Christ iinas. In tho lino of gifts, such arti cles as lraoks, stationery, games, mit tens, and handkerchiefs will be ac ceptable. The majority of our wards are good, average- boys who have- made but one mis-step, or who, through tho Influ ence of bad company, have become cureless !'!" Indiscreet, thus making it necessary that they should be placed In charge of the school for a time with t lit- hope of helping them to see I bin there is a bigh standard attain able by all who will try for It; that they must ever be on the alert to cultivate that, which Is pure and up lifting, and to shun lhal which is de grading and destructive to their man hood. Most of us who nre older do not have lo think very hard to remem ber llltlo Irregularities of our boy hood days which wo called pranks, so let tis, with Christian charily, do our little part at this glad Christmas lime In contributing to tho happiness of some of theso moro unfortunate boys who are dependent upon lis for care and kindness nnd whom tho Slate of Oregon is trying to mold Into good and useful citizens.
