Tho Republican city committee of Portland will try the ex periment of suggesting names to be submitted to a primary election. To got around this the Republican city committee will name four hundred representative Republicans by wards to name a ticket, This ticket will be placed before the voters at the Primary election for ratification BY THE MEMBERS OF THE PARTY. As two hundred and one will be a majority of the four hun dred, the ticket thus ratified would be the choice of a very small number, That it would restore machine politics is perfectly plain on the face of the matter, and THE CHOICE OF SUCH A MACHINE WOULD BE DEFEATED.
