Whllo yet a (lttld his parents moved to Indiana, and from tltero to Illinois. His par crit i died when he was 'ourte 'ti yearn old. and Hi 1853 he and Ills younger brother, Joseph M, Parker, and two winters, Mrs. James Parvln and Mrs. John Stoop-, crossed the plains to Oragon, settling In Ratllr snake valley, thl county, and from thero ho moved tokPleasant Hill and In 1808. he bought and moved to the farm on which he lived until his death. October 1, 1857, he was married to Phtjobo E, Rlgdon, who died July f4, 11104, and to them were born eleven children, eight sons and three daughters, nine of whom sur vive him, Luella M. (deceased), Hortonsi L clarence A., Edith D , John C, James C.VLoroy C, Ouy W. nnu Aug'rtus. Ono sister, Mrs. James fcParvtn, and throe brothers, J. M. and V. R. Parker, of Dexter, thin county, and Martin Parker, of Springfield, Mlsoourl, survive him. Ho served during the Rogue Riv er! Indlnn war nnd as commissioner for four years as a Democrat, and was elected without making a can van of the county, and against a very largo Republican majority.
