An appropriation aggregating $3,- 249.83, including a balance of $749.83 loft over from a former appropriation was mado for this purpose Tho work authorized by this act was commenced during tho mouth of March, 1904. Stato teams were usod when not othorwiso employed, but woro not sufficient to perform all tho labor necessnry to bo dono with towns. Oth er teams woro hirod with which to aid in tho prosecution of tho work. All tho convicts who could bo convenient ly employod under ono supervisor wcro furnished and UBod in this work. Only trusties woro usod, and for this rea son no guards woro hirod, thoroby econ omizing as much as practicablo in tho cash outlay necessary. Tho men woro soloctod with caro, worked well and faithfully, giving no troublo whntover.
