NOTED Mine SOLD May Flower Group Changes Hands After a Year of Negotiation Howard, Or, April 13. The Lew is McCalllster quartz claims known as the Mayflower group, wero last week taken over by Thron Thronson, J. A. Thronson and C. J. Thronson, with deeds from them transferlng tho property to the Oregon Mayflower Company, a Washington corporation. This closes a deal begun a year ago, when tho buyers took an option on tho ground. The price paid is un derstood to bo $25,000. The history of the camp Is one ot varied experiences. In the early '70s placer deposits were oxtonslvely worked on Scissors creek and Gold hill, and largo amounts of gold were taken oilt, duo credit for which has, never been given to Crook county. Quartz veins wero later discovered, and upon theso considerable develop ment work has been done. Valuabl Ore Removed. Tho Mayflower vein, from which tho group takes Its name, has been opened to a depth of 125 feet. Sever al hundred tons of ore havo been ex tracted from theso workings, somo of which has been shipped to smelters, tho values running up to $125 a ton, chiefly In gold. Other veins havo also been developed. Tho presont owners havo driven a tunnel 340 feet to tap the Cranston vein, and, while nothing has been given out, It Is known that ore has been struck. It Is learned from Thron Thronson, who Is In charge of tho development work, that It is tho Intention of tho company to Install machlnory on tho Mayflower vein to systematically de velop Its depth. During the summer a 10-ton mill for treating tho ores by the cyanldo process will bo erected. A largo amount of ore Is in the bins ready for trentment, and the ownors expect to keep tho mill In constant operation. -Great Improvements. Tho old tunnel will bo repaired and an upraise run to tho surfaco. The hoist and mill will bo erected on Gold hill at tho strong outcrop of tho voln. the elto being Ideal for handling tho ores, Tho water from the shaft will bo discharged through' tho tunnol. Water and timber nro abundant, andn gen eral tho situation Is a vory favorablo one as regards access and cllmato. Tho district js on tho headwaters of tho Oclioco river, 28 miles above Prlnevllle. Howard postofllco Is lo cated on the ground. To tho south, a distance of five or six miles, Ho the Lookout Mountain camps, where cin nabar has been discovered and gener al activity Is expected with tho advent of favorablo weather. A telephone lino Is now under construction to connect tho camp with Prlhovlllo and the outside world. A Classification. The veins of tho district are clashed as true fissures and tho coun try rock Is porphyrlto passing on one hand Into andesltos and dolorltes and on tho other hand Into dlorltcs. Tho ores aro replacement of tho crushed porphyrlto and consist of mlsplcket, pyrlte, fmlona, blondo stlbnlto, rhod ochroslte, bismuth in a ganguo or quartz calclto and earthy aluminous magnesian matter. The ores are high grado, goncrnlly In gold, but high silver values are constantly met with. Next to the actual bacteria of dis ease, the mottmitoi and flies are the most dangerous enemies of man. The mosquito with Its bite injects Into our vetns malaria, yellow fever, and other fatal troubles. The fly, with spongy feet, collecU the Invisible germs of diseases, spread them over our food and poisons us with typhoid, cholera and other plagues of the human nee. . Dr. Pierce, the eminent physician of Buf falo, N. Y., says, "If each person will con sider his svstetn as an nrmv of men which . he controls as a general, and will see to its proper provisioning ana that It has plenty of ammunition in the shape of good red blood, he will be able to overcome the enemy in these genus of disease." Every healthy man has five million red blood corpuscles to every square millimeter of blood, The best tonic for increasing the red blood corpuscles and building tip healthy tissue is no doubt Dr. Pierce's Golden Med ical Discovery, This medicine has been on the market for over a third of a century and numbers its cures by the thousand. Many popular patent medicines or tonics are made up largely of alcohol nnd will shrink the corpuscles of the blood and make them weaker for resistance. What is needed is an alterative extract, like Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, made of roots and herbs, without the use of alco hol, that will assist the stomach in assimi lating or taking from the food such ele ments as are required for the blood, also art alterative that will assist the activity of the liver and cause it to throw off the poisons in the blood. When we have accomplished this we have put the system in n fortified condition so strong that it can repel the germs of disease which we find every "where in the street-cars, the shops, the factories, the bedrooms, wherever many people congregate, or where sunlight and good, air do not penetrate. Accept no substitute for "Golden Medical Discovery," There is nothing "just as .good" for diseases of the stomach, blood and lungs. Neglected constipation means headache, heart-bum, sour stomach, foul taste in the mouth, biliousness, pimples, and palpita tion of the heart. Constipation Is promptly cured by Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets. One for mild cases, otherwise two. MARKfT QUOTA TIONS TODAY "Make Salem a Good Home Market" Capital City Mills Quotations.
