News was rucalvcd In Salem today of the strike of an Immensely rich ledge In the Gold Creek mining dis trict, on properties in which many Sa lem people are interested. Tho strike was mado on the east fork of Gold creek and Cranston creek, about 15 miles from Gates, on claims that are owned and controlled Uy the In vestors Mining & Milling Company, of this city. The Initial strike was made several days ago. when a ledge, that has since proved to he a blind ledge, was discov ered. The ledge was rich, and meas ured IS Inches at the base, and ex tended into the tunnel three feet. From a superficial anamination it was be lieved that the vein was nt least 50 feet In length. Today's roport, direct from the mining camp, announces Uie further discovery of a still lnrger and richer ledge of almost pure copper. Samples of the ore have been assayed by a Denver.
