Salem's New Police Policy Chief of Police Gibson lias adopted a new policy in dealing with the transient clasp, commonly called hoboes. Here after all sueh persons having no visi ble means of support will be promptly jailed upon putting in an appearauco in the city and will be given the alternative of leaving the city immediately or serving a several day's sentence at the city rock-pile. Chief Gibson is of the opinion that the operation of sueh a pol iey will dlepense with all depredations that are usually committed by such in dividuals and will prove satUfsctory.
