P. Rogers and the ap plication of P. P. Talklnsjton for a re newal of hi license was referred to the proper eommitteo. IUL. It showed a total of 8 cases for tho month in recorder's court with fines paid amounting to $7, contri buted principally by carelene wheelmen who were caught riding without lights. In justices department, thero were three civil suits in which the combined justice's and constables fees amounted to f 14.45 which amount waB placed In city treas ury. The total cash receipts for the month were SO 18.05. The amount of warrants drawn for tho tame period was $1029.27 which with $2500.34 for the pre ceding quarter makes a total ol 3594 Gl of warrant expenditures (or tho first four months of this year, Petition ol Geo. K. Day for bill posting privileges on North Liberty street re ferred to street commissioner with power to act. Correspondence regarding tho Anson bond was read and placed on fllo. Tho local Christian Endeavor Union petitioned tho council for permission to hang a banner across Btato and Com mercial streets welcoming tho viMtlng delegates to tho city. Alcdrman Oris wold stated that such banners are a nuisance. Tho requoit was granted and the matter of plaaing restrictions upon tho manner of hanging said banner was roforred to Alderman Oriswold.; Ordinance opening (.tho sidewalk to bloyllets on tko south sidoof State street between High and .Commercial streets, was read n third time but failed to pass by a voto ol 1 to 4, not voting. The vote was: Aye Lareon; Nay Burrows, Huron, Uriswold, Walker. Alderman Itlggs refused to voto.
