West of tho Caecado mountnins the tomporotures during tho week have been qulto equable, whilo to tho east of those mountains thoy hao been vory change able, with -widely divergent extremes. As a wholo, it lias nveroged slightly warmer than tho previous week, and has been much warmer than it was nt thfs timo a year ago. Tho day temioraturc8 west of tho Cascades ranged between 02 and fl degrees, and tho night tempera' tures between 42 and 63 degrees. East of tho mountains tho day temperatures ranged botween 52 and 82 degrees, and the night temperatures between 30 and 54 degrees. Showers occurred pretty generally over tiro stato Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday, and cast of tho mountains thoy wero attended by thunder and excesjivo rainfalls over limited areas, Not much, if any, rain fell on other days of the week, but a good- portion of tho timo has been cloudy, and vegetation in general would bo benefited by more sunshine. Farm Work Seeding and planting aro nearly finished in all sections. Winter Wheat Winter wheat Is now beginning to head in whilo in tho Colum bia River Valley it is about all headed. In tho Willamatte valley and the Coast dlerict tho crop is only doing fairly well, but in all other sections it is remark ably thrifty. Spring Wheat Spring wheat is stool ing nicely, and is generally In excellent condition. Corn Corn Is mostly all up and its" cultivation is in active progress. Oats Oats are making a good growth, although qulto a number of complaints aro heard of damage, being done to thoin by cut worms and insects. Barley Harluy In general looks well, and in tho Plateau district tho cut worms linvo stopped working In thu fields, after having done considerable damage. Hops Hops have nuulo a favorable growth during thu week uud no unfavor able reports regarding thin crop havo been received. Gardens Potatoes uru about all planted, ami their cultivation is now in progress. Vegetables of all kinds aro doing well. Grass Pasturage is good in all sec tions and tho hay outlook is very prom ising. Stock Iioporls from the Willamette valley uud Southern Oregon statu that sheep shearing is in progress uud that the wool clip is heavy. The stock in all sections is In 11 good condition. Fruit. A fair crop of strawberries is being marketed, and cherries will soon bo ripe.
