At all drucxUta, THE HONORABLE BRITISH Havo Plotted for Years to Overthrow tho Dutch Republics. Documents Captured at Dundee Show Uoeta Were Wise In Naking tlie Initiative. Under data ol Jan. 14, tho Now York Sun publishes tho follewing: Nisw Youk, .Tnn. 14. The Sun says: It Is interesting to loam that among tho papers loft behind at Dundee by tho Urltlsh when they hurriedly evacuated that placo in October woro n number of 'documcnto of military and future Ills torical value. These documents nro now In possession of tho Transvaal govern merit and unveil a thoroughly worked out scheme to attack tho imlopcud -enco of both republics as far back as 1800, notwithstanding constant assur ances of amity toward tho Orange Freo Stalo. Among these papers aro port folios of military skotches of various routes of Invasion from Natal into tho Transvaal and Freo State, prepared by Major Grant, Captain Melville and Cap tain Gale, Immediately after tho Jame son raid. Another iHirtfollo marked secret, styled "recomioissiuieo reports of lines of ndvaueo through tho Freo SUito," was prepared by Captain Wolley in tho intelligence division of the War Olllro In 18!)7, and It Is accompanied by anpecial memorandum, assigned by Sir Red vers ltuller, to keep in secret. Hut both tho Transvaal and Kree State governments seem either to have boon well served by their agents, or their military leaders divined tho in-' tcntloiis of the Urltlsh Government, for it became known to them soon aft el General White arrived in Natal, that ho had ordors not to wait for a declaration of hostilities, but to seize Van Herman's pass whenever ho considered himself strong enough to act. So soon as Freo Stato government was warned of tho premeditated aggression of tho British Government, it determined to forestall It, and before Whlto could act tho Free Stato forces had occupied and fortified the pass, thus blocking tho main avenue by which the Ilritish had promised mak ing their principal advance against the Transvaal. These facts throw considerable light on much that was obscuie In connec tion with tho decision taken by the Transvaal Government to not wait for the Ilritish to make the first move, but to anticipate thorn and carry the war into Ilritish territory. They also go to explain the confusion into which the whole British plan of campaign was thrown when it was found that the ad vanco from Ladysmlth through tho Oraugo Free Stato was no longer prac ticable. Copies of the documents cap tured at Dundee have, ii is said, Intcii submitted to tho governments of the great Kuropean jiowcrs.
