The thirty-fifth anniversary of the organization of the Knights of Pythla was very appropriately ob served on Sunday evenlug by Central Lodge No. 18 atid the Rathbone Sis ters of Centralia Temple. The anni versary occurred on Saturday, but the exercises were held in the Unitarian church, Sunday evening. The church, and particularly the rostrum, was profusely decorated with the colors and emblems of the order Proceeding the address of the even ing, Roy Gesncr executed a violin solo In his usual accomplished manncr, and Luke Linn was heard In a vocal con tribution. Mrs. Ilallle Parrlsh Hinges, Salem's most accomplished vocalist, delighted her auditors by singing "Jerusalem." It Is always a pleasure to near Mrs. Hinges sing. The local Knights disnlaycd uood judgment In selecting Rev. W. E. Copelanu to deliver the address ot tue evening. Besides being one of the most cultured pulpit orators in the city, Rey. Copeland was for several years past supreme representative for tne state ot iNeuiasKa, ana is person ally acquainted with tlio noble work carried on by the order of which he Is an honored member. The Knights of Pythias was tho third secret society organized being preceded by the Free Masons and Odd Fellows, only. While the Pythian or der did not grow very rapidly for a time following Its organization, it now has a menibershln of nearly 500.- OO.i members and Is truly un American and a patriotic order. The hrst secret society however, ex isted prior to Christ. About 400 B. Tiie sneaKer recueu me siory oi Damon and Pythias upon which ex ample the Knights of Pythias order was formed. But there Is a religious side to the Pythian Knighthood. James says: "pure religion and uudeflled before God and the Father Is this, to visit the fatherless and the widows in their allllction find to keep unspotted from the world." This is the religious side of Knights of Pythias. The Knights of Pythias is a union of friends tor assistance and mutual benefit and for the advancement of virtue, bravery, benevolence and honor. The members of Central lodge No, 18, K. of P., and Centralia Temple, Rathbone Sisters, attended the ser vices In a boay occunying the seat9 in thc-main body of the church which had been reserved for them, Pyjr. Lawler in Town. W. B. Lawler, developer of the Santlam quartz mines, was In town today, enroute to Salt Lake. He told a Journal reporter that he had not lost faith In the property at Anldem but was encased In preparations to put In a now process that would slop waste of the baser ores, lie says there Is very little free milling ore and the yield Is from $3 to $0 per ton. Mr. Lawler was in the city to see his counsel Wm. II. Holmes and Setb R. Hammer, and took the boat for Portland, whence he takes the night train for Salt Lake. He says $307,000 has been put Into the Anldem mines. Not Troubled Now, "From my childhood I haye been In poor health. When I was 10 years old I had salt rheum on one of my hands. MILES MEDICAL CO., Elkhart, Ind. mmmmjavrmtm: wwiww INTENSE SUFFER!1 From Dyspepsia and ach Trouble. Stom- Instantly Relieved and Permanently Cured. A New Discovery, But Not a Patent Medicine. Dr Rcdwcll relates an interesting account of what he considers a re markable cure of acute stomach trouble and chronic dyspepsia by the ti-e of the new discovery, Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets. He says: The patient was n man who had suffered to my knowledge for years with dyspepsia. Everything he ate seemed to sour and create acid and gasses In the stomach; he had pains like rheumatism In the back, shoulder blades and limbs, fullncs and distress after eating, poor appetite and loss of llesh; the heart became effected, causing palpitation at night. 1 gave hint powerful nerve tonics atid blood .remedies, but to no pur pose. As an experiment. I finally bought u fifty cent package of Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets at a drug store and gave them to him. Almost Im mediate relief was given and after he had used four boxes he was to all appearance fully cured. There was no moro acidity or sour watery risings, no bloating aftci meals, the appetite was vigorous and lie has gained between 10 and 12 pounds in weight ot solid, healthy llesh. Although Stuart's Dyspopsia Tab lets are advertised and sold In drug stores yet I consider them a most val uable addition to any physician's line of remedies, as they aro perfectly harmless and can be given to children or Invalids or in any condition of the stomach with perfect safety, being harmless and containing nothing but vegetable and fruit essences pure pep sin and Golden Seal, Without any question they are tho safest, most effective cure for Indiges tion, biliousness, constipation and ad derangements of the stomach how ever slight or severe. Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets aro sold by druggists everywhere at fifty cents for full sized package.
