Mayor Hunt Issued n proclamation yester day calling upon all business men to close their establishments so that all could engage in the work necessary to recover from tho present condi tion of the city. That many of the victims will never bo found is cer tain. Tho swift current has carried many away, the flumes have turned others to cinders, nnd tho crumbling banka have made their grave. Titubville, Juno 8. Railroad tracks aro washed away above the city for a distance of fifteen or twen ty miles nnd travel both north nnd south Is cut ofl for tho present. The facilities for caring for tho dead are limited, and sixteen unrecognizable bodlts placed in stacks and laid aside until they could receive further at tention. Coroner Strauss empaneled a jury and viewed tho remains. Ho said tho verdict could be nothing elso than un "act of Providence." Every bridge in thecouuty, with tho exception of threo railway br.dges, Is swept away, aud tho roads are so badly torn up that It will cost an Im mense sum to repair them. Hun dreds of families are homeless and great distress prevails. Oil City, Juno 8. Seven uniden tified victims of Sunday night's lire and fiood wero burled this morning. Both Sides Confident, No Change in the Situation. Minneapolis, Juno8. No signi ficant chatiue lu tho situation this morning. Both sides aro apparently confident. Alger Is still In the field, aud half a dozen other candidates are mentioned as a compromise. Harrison people claim to have made gains the past twenty four hours, es peclally lu New York, where they claim twenty-nine votes on tho first ballot. The best information obtain able, shows that the Blalieuud liar rlson forces are almost equal in strength, but the Blulue people have the advantage of organization, both In convention aud committees. Mc Kinley's selection us permanent chuiiman, has added to his boom, aud there is a .movement "lu some quarters to spring his name as the dark horse, If found advisable. Rusk, Sherman, AUlison, und others are mentioned as possible cundi dutes. A committee of Associated Traders of New York have arriyed, to press the re-nomluation of Har rison, claiming he Is the originator of the bl-metalllc conference, and the only Republican who will be supported by Eastern merchants, or bankers, or the farmers, working classes and free sliver men of the Southwest. The coramltteo repre sents eleven trade aud labor unions of New York, and claim tho work lugmen through the state favor Har riou. It is said tho committee on cre dentials will not report befoie to morrow, aud the ballot is not likely till Friday. Blaine managers do not under rate tho moral elect of Harrison gain in New York where It Is said 29 delegates have signed an agreement for Harrison, but declare that until lust night Blaine forces were unor nanlzed now they propose under the leadership of Warner Miller, Boutelle and Foraker to conduct a systematic canvass of delegates. The Harrison manugers say the Blaine forces are evidently working for delay, knowing if a bullot was taken now they would be defeated by over a hundred votes. Harrison men, after a reasonable time pro pose to push far action, they declare thatBlalue is practically abandoned by tho opposition who are skirmish lug for candidates, Micheuer, of Indiana claims, 521 tried votes for Harrison which includes only 20 from New York. Republican Convention. Minneapolis, Minn., June f?. It is said tho committee on creden tials will not report before tomorrow, and the ballot will not likely be reached till Friday. Up to 11 a. m. tho committee on credentials had not passed on a single ono of the contested seats. Minneapolis, Juue 8. At 11:45 a. m. tho convention was called to order. Committee on credentials has not yet passed on a single con tested delegation. Chaiiman of com mittee on platform says they will not report until late tonight. Tho weather is fine.
