A bed ol ashes and smouldering fire stretches from Right of Way to Cottace avenue. The fire is attributed to the sparks from the mill of White River Shingle company located at the depc t, which set fire to the roof of the Buckley Lumber company's store. A light w Ind was blowing, which made the whole street on the south and business part an easy victim, though the fire bad to jump Cedar street to rea h a solid block stretching to Cottoye avenue. Little effort was made to quench tbe fire after it got fairly started, but hundreds of men carried goods acrrss the street aud considerable merchandise was saved. The citizens are busy tonight getting goods into afe places, and many firms will do busine's tomorrow from improvised st'.rc. The Buckley state hank will be open for buainess at Taylor & Joint's office at the usual hour, owing to their fire-proof safe.
