The vessel must also dr velop on a trial trip In the open tea a speed of not less than twenty-one knots per hour for four consecutive hours, or the contractor will bo sub ject to a penalty of $223,000 for each quarter knot deficiency. The officers ofleied to send au unarmed man with Dalton, but he said the "boys" would Kill any one who went with him. They had 800 rounds of ammunition and wero good shots. The testimony showed that Crane, who is treauier of the Congregational church, became Intimate with Mrs. Deaiborn while a favored boarder at her house. The Intimacy was Kept up fur some time, her husband being ubent from home. Finally she became Jealous and told her liusbaud all. He wont gunning for Crane but did not shoot him. Cruno went to her house next night and begged Mrs. Detuboin to pacify her bustiand and Miiooth mutters over.
