Grant, Jr.. in reply to a letter to Mrs. Grant, rela tive to the proposed removal of her husband's remains from New York to Arlington National cemetery. The letter in part says: "If the peo ple by act of congress choose to re niove General Grant's lemaius to or uear Washington, Mrs. Grant will refuse her consent only hi case no provision he made for her family resting by her side." Senator Edmunds has offered the following amendment to the tariff bill, (referred to committee on fiunuce:) ''that whenever the presi dent of the United States shall be satisfied that any sugar-producing country has alolishdd its duties ou importation of the puncipal agrieul tural products of the United States, ho may by proclamation diminish or wholly icmit duties imposed 03 law on sugar oranygiade of sugai produced in and exported directlj from any such country into tin United States."
