Page Six Governor Sponsors Energy Conservation Contest Apple Valley Items ADRIAN - Mrs. Edna De Haven of Adrian and her son in-law, Jim Mosier of Ontario walked 18 miles in the Walkathon Saturday. Her grandsons Stacy and Tracy Skerjanec of Ontario walked 12 miles each. They are twelve years old. Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mosier and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Skerjanec of Ontario took Mr. and Mrs. George DeHaven out to dinner at the Cheyenne Club in Ontario to celebrate the DeHaven’s 47th Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. Mabie Piercy and Mrs. Sue Ashcraft went to Ontario on business Wed nesday. Mrs. Mabie Piercy and Thurman Piercy went to Buhl. Idaho on Saturday and visited her sister. Mage Harmon. Mrs. Mabie Piercy at tended the Womens Associa tion and the Happy Dozen Card Club meetings at the home of Mrs. Bill Toomb last week. Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Mackey took Mrs. Minnie Mackey to see her doctor in Nampa, then to Boise to visit her sister. Mrs. Hannah Gage, and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Helton. Mr. and Mrs. Vem Parker went to Battle Mountain. Nevada, Friday where they visited Mr. and Mrs. David Ramsdell and family, return ing home on Sunday. Mrs. Anna Long and Mary Looney were Sunday dinner guests in the Bill Looney home. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Looney and family of Ontario were Sunday afternoon visi tors. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Looney and Mrs. Anna Long went to Emmett Friday afternoon to attend graveside services for their cousin. Gary Bott of Indian Valley. Mrs. Hazel Schafer spent from Tuesday until Friday evening in Middleton with her sister. Mrs. Saraha Evans. Mrs. Mabie Piercy and Mrs. Anna Long went to Bellingham, April 7 and visited in the Wayne Sparks home, returning home April 11. They visited in Yakima, Washington. Mrs. Piercy talked with Mrs. C. W. Some brought crocheting, embrodery and Artex paint ing to work on and others just visited. We had a very delicious luncheon at noon and all had a wonderful time. Mrs. Olson stopped by Mrs. Nell Corrells Tuesday evening and they had a very nice visit. Mrs. Olson used to live here in Apple Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Whittom and son of Seattle visited all day Saturday with Mrs. Nell Correll. Mariiu Wilson of Rupert spent Easter weekend with her mother Mrs. Helen Wilson. Mrs. Laura Bale was a supper guest in the Bob Bale home Monday evening. Word has been received that Mrs. Ethel Nichols was taken to the hospital in Ontario Saturday morning. Haven't any details at pre sent. Mr. and Mrs. John Price of Nyssa and Mrs. Price’s sister. Mrs. Emma Burger visited in the Arch Engle hardt home Thursday eve ning. Mrs. Laura Bale visited Mrs. Elmer Smith Thursday afternoon and found she js having a garage sale in the "Old Apple Valley Hotel.” She has most everything there, clothing, dishes and bicycles to name just a few things. Mrs. Raymond Norland visited with Mrs. Sheppard the first part of the week. Miss Ronda Downs of Nampa spent Monday and Tuesday in the Dwight Seward home. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rodrí guez of Nyssa visited Mrs. Dwight Seward who has been ill. on Sunday afternoon Mrs. Jim McCabe and daughter Milena of Estacada, Oregon came Thursday eve ning and stayed till Saturday morning with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sheppard. Mrs. Jim McCabe and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sheppard were Thurs day evening suppeT guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Sheppard and family of Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Engle hardt attended the retire ment and roast for Mr. McPartland at the new cafeteria at the Nyssa school Saturday evening. A wonder ful time was had by all. Mr. and Mrs. Veri Bishop visited their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Bishop of Yakima. Washington all week of the tenth. Mr. and Mrs. Veri Bishop visited Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Bennett of Big Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Sells and children were Sunday visitors in the Ed Sells home. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Morri son and children of Fruitland, Mr. and Mrs. Fedil Soliz and family of Nyssa and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Morrison and family of Parma were Sunday visitors in the Alvin Morrison home. Activities In Arcadia Bowen By ARCADIA * Arcadia Cub will meet at Dorthy Bowers home near Ontario. Friday, April 29. Steve and Bernice James of Meridian visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Parley Feik. George Moeller attended a bridal shower for Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carroll at the Henry Carroll home in Nyssa Friday. Jim Houston and boys were also guests. Governor Robert Straub has invited school children and high school age youth to send him ideas on energy conservation. Grade school children are asked to make posters showing how energy can be saved in their communities. Copies of the posters should be sent to the Governor's Commission on Youth for judging. Following the adoption and approval of the minutes and treasurer's report, a weed clean-up committee of Wyatt Smith, Earl Chard and Vem Duus was named. They are to burn and clean up the weeds around the Legion Hall. The rummage sale reports indi cated good results and profits. Gas at Mini Prices With Full Service Mr. W. L. McPartland, superintendent of the Nyssa Schools and Mrs. Beth Leggett, an elementary school teacher, spoke to the club about the coming pageant, "What Is Nyssa?” This will be a dedication program for the new school auditorium and will involve many townspeople when it is presented May 5, 6 and 7. The club decided to distri bute the tickets for the event. Everyone was reminded to vote in the May 19 election. Following the closing of the meeting with prayer by Wyatt Smith, chaplain the group enjoyed the usual potluck dinner. The nurses were there to record blood pressures also.
