Thursday, March 31, 1977 Newell Heights Items By Dale Witt NEWELL HEIGHTS - Mr Lloyd Smith of Bakersfield, California came March 17 and visited his sister. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. McKinley, leaving on March 18. Mrs. McKinley's sister-in-law. Mrs. Lorenc Smith came from Gering, Nebraska, ar riving March 18 and visited the McKinley home leaving on March 28. On March 21, Mrs. Jack Earnest, Mary and Susie came and spent two days in the R. D. McKinley home and on March 25, Mrs. McKinley's nephew, Dr. Wayne Smith of Denver, Colorado, came for a visit. Mrs. Lorene Smith and Dr. Wayne Smith left on Monday morning. Dr. and Mrs. James McKinley of Albany came Friday to visit in the R. D. McKinley home and left on Saturday. Mrs. Hugh Eddy and family of Caldwell spent Saturday at the McKinley home and Sunday they all went to the home of Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Eddy and family who took them out to dinner. Selma Simpson and friend Dave Woodard of Vancouver, Washington came Friday and spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simpson. Mrs. Jeanie Fenn and girls of Ontario were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Carl Fenn. Peter and Phillip Hull of Boise came Friday and are visiting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LcRoy Sprague until Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schutte were Sunday dinner Page Seven Nyssa Gate City Journal. Nyssa. Oreaon guests a week ago at the Donald Grant home in Meridian. They had their minister's three children, Heidi, Duane and Keith Hushagen of Nampa at their home over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schutte were Sunday, March 27 dinner guests of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schutte and family at Nampa. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lee Hill and Terri visited with Mr, and Mrs. Jim Phifer Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Burton Bams left Friday for Hermis ton where they visited the Finch family, returning home on Tuesday. Saturday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simpson were Mr. and Mrs. Marion York and children of Vale and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Galyen and baby of Ontario. Afternoon callers were Mrs. Carl Fenn, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simpson and Mrs. Donna Martin and baby. The Simpson family had a dinner at Shakeys Wednes day evening. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Simpson and Cindy, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simpson and Terry Strong, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holdt and family of Van couver, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simpson and Johnnie and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Galyen and baby. Mrs. Marion York and girls of Vale visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holdt and family in the Alfred Simpson home Wed nesday afternoon. Mrs. Bill Webb went to Boise Saturday with Mrs. Margarete Payne and Pau line King of Ontario. There they attended the installation of Betty A Hopssgarten of Boise as queen of Iras Temple Number 40 of the Daughters of the Nile, also the installation of the other officers. A program and reception followed Saturday evening. Mrs. Margate»«: Payne and Luella Johnson were the charter members present who were honored as “Escorts of the Bible.” While in Boise they visited Mr. and Mrs. Albert Maule who are Mrs. Margarete Payne's brother and his wife. Mrs. Jeanie Fenn and girls of Ontario and Mrs. Ida Fenn were Sunday afternoon visi tors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Simpson. Mrs. Kay Grooms and three sons of La Grande are visiting friends in this and other areas. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Borge who lived in this area. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simpson visited Selma Simpson at the Alfred Simpson home Satur day afternoon. She is from Vancouver. Washington. Terry Strong of Owyhee Dam area spent the past week in the Ray Simpson home. His parents are moving up the river from where they were. Martha Besendorfer of Salt Lake City, Utah visited in the Leon Chamberlain home Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Kriegh were Saturday evening din ner guests of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Palmer. Mrs. Irvin Topliff and Mrs. Dale Witt attended the open house at the Parma Senior Citizens apartments Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bowles and family of Med ford. Oregon came Wednes day to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George De Haven and returned home Friday. Mrs. Kay Grooms of La Grande and three boys were Wednesday caller of Mr. and Mrs. George DeHaven. Mrs. Hazel Schafer went to Caldwell Tuesday and visited her sister. Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Kendall until Saturday Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lenaghen of Boise were dinner guests of Mrs. Hazel Schafer.
