Members from La Grande, Hermiston. Baker. The Dalles. Pendleton. Board man. Hood River and Nyssa will be participating in the meeting. The Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary No. 2134 will hold a joint Luau potluck September 24 at 7:30 p.m. for Mrs. George Tracy, madam state president and Bob Mecham worthy state president. All Auxiliary members and Aerie members wives are asked to furnish two salads. The Aerie and Auxiliary will furnish the meat, bread and dessert. This is the first time the worthy state president and ORDER OF eastern STAR. BIG BEND - Jay McGin nis. grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James McGinnis is recovering from surgery on both knees. He returned to his grandparents home last week from St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Seuell returned home last Sunday from Hale. Missouri where they have been visit ing friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wood have been spending quite a lot of their time lately visiting their grandson Larry Wood of Nyssa at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario. He is recovering at home now from injuries received in an auto accident. His sister. Robin, was less seriously injured. Mrs. Ethel Smith and a friend from Boise were last Thursday luncheon guests of Mrs. Winifred Bennett. Mrs. Ethel Smith recently moved to Boise from Big Bend. Mrs. James McGinnis took Mrs. Sue Ashcraft and Mrs. Vem Parker of Adrian to Boise last Monday where they attended funeral ser vices for Mrs. Charlie (Mae) McConnell. The McConnells lived where Mrs. Ethel Smith lived in the 1930's. Mr. and Mrs. Dyre Roberts left last Friday morning by bus for Salem where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Wesley (Deede) Roberts. Mr. Ro berts is recovering nicely from recent cancer surgery. On Sunday, they all visited Mr. and Mrs. Clark Enos in Woodburn. The Enos' lived many years in Adrian where he managed Van Petten Lumber Co. The Roberts returned home too late Tuesday evening to get the Big Bend news in the paper last week. Mrs. A. Sillonis recently underwent cataract surgery at Boise. Mr and Mrs Pete Sillonis visited her last Sunday at the Inaki Eigurren home in Boise and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Sillonis and family visited her Sunday. Mrs. Gene Murray and daughter Kathy of Van Couver. B. C. were Thursday and Friday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van DeWater. Mr. and Mrs. Chet Uban of Long Beach, Calif, were Thursday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell English. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomas of Roswell were Thursday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Thomas and family. Mrs. Winifred Bennett. Mrs. Dick Bennett and Mrs. Elmer Wood attended a bridal shower for Mrs. Mark Wood in Marsing Saturday afternoon. Mrs Margaret Wood returned home with them and was an overnight guest of Mrs. Winifred Bennett. New Teacher At Adrian Golden Rule Chapter No. 131 met September 20 at the Masonic Hall with Beatrice Grossnickle, worthy matron presiding. Escorted and introduced were Richard Duckett. De borah Chapter, Prairie City, member of cancer research; Amelia Pratt, blood bank committee member, Golden Rule Chapter No. 131, Nysaa. both for the State of Oregon. This was Mr. Duckett's official visit for District No. 2. The District Meeting will be held at Vale, October 13 and Golden Chain Chapter No. 103 will be the hostess chapter. JACKIE WEYERMAN. is the new kindergarten teacher at Adrian. She has returned to teaching after an absence of a few years, raising her family. She taught previously for three years in Pocatello and has had a private kinder garten. Police Report Fernando Rodríguez and Ray iracheta both of Nyssa were arrested by Nyssa Police Officers Friday for Ontario officers on charges of a shop lifting incident at West Park Plaza.
