An open house will be given by their children on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at their home in Fruitland. Mr. and Mrs Esplin were both born and raised in southern Utah. They moved to Nyssa. Oregon in 1956 and to Fruitland in 1961 They have been engaged in farming most of their lives. They have six children Mrs. Bill (Lyta) Manley. Boise Idaho. Mrs Dick (Claire) Herrick, Garden Grove, California; Mrs Dee (Torma) Winegar, Ontario. Oregon. Mrs. Jerry (Cleo) Williams. Nyssa. Oregon; Mrs. Joy Hammon. Fruitland. Idaho, and Capt Greg Esplin. U. S. Air Force. Holland. They have 21 grandchildren. Mr and Mrs. Frank Rhodes and family attended a party at the home of Mr and Mrs. Rolla Rhodes in Parma Mr and Mrs. Paul Gehrke of this area also attended. Mr and Mrs Leo Rhodes and daughter Frances of Boise and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gehrke were New Years dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. Frank Rhodes and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rhodes. Frances spent the night at the Frank Rhodes home. Friday evening, the birth days of Elisabeth Rhodes. Paul Gehrke and Mrs Paul Gehrke were celebrated with ice cream and cake in the Frank Rhodes home. AHS Adopts Parent For Christmas by Marva Don Caae It all started as an idea and. like "Topsey", it just grew. No one had the Christmas spirit and no one knew why. Then someone said "Let's do something for someone for Christmas. We're not getting Christmas trees this year and we're not having the party for the girls from Nampa State School. We just need to give something to someone.” Thats how it all began The Journalism Class de cided to adopt a parent. The choice was a lady who lives in Adrian who had recently lost her husband and would be lonely for Christmas. Mrs. Mary Merrill. Then the entire student body decided to add 143 members to Mrs. Merrill's family for the Christmas season Mrs. Merrill was surprised and a little apprehensive at first but then she "gave in” and her holiday season began with an invitation to Mrs. Ocamica's annual Christmas dinner at the school cafeteria on Wednesday. With the money the Journalism class makes from their school paper, they bought a Christmas tree and ¡he fixings for a Christmas dinner. The tree was deco rated at Mrs. Merrill's home Wednesday afternoon by Bruce Robinson, Jay Kygar, Marva Don Case, Becky Brown. Cathy Benton and Shawn Webb. Mrs. Donna Webb along to bring cheer too! Among the gifts taken was a cookie tree made by four of the Journalism class students, Jay Kygar, Bruce Robinson. Joey Ishida and Arthur Leos. A fruit basket was made for her also. She was very, very happy and expressed her thanks many times to all the students. She fixed hot chocolate before the tree decorators went back to school. Thursday, she heard from the Adrian High School Choir who caroled at her house. Friday, she was greeted by Mrs. Feasonhiser and her Third period class who brought her cookies and candy. Christmas activities for the I family of Mrs. Jennie Seward started on Christmas Eve with all of her children and their families present for a Christmas Eve party and gift exchange Over 30 members of the family were present. During Christmas week and New Years, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Seward were all home at different times. Mabel Fox was also present for dinner on Christmas Day.
