Mr. and Mrs. Dale Conant and children of Caldwell were Sunday after noon visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brown. • • • Sunday dinner guests at the home of the Dirick Nedrys were Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Humphrey of Boise. • • • Mrs. Donna Glenn. Mrs. Roma Alvord. Mrs. Alice Williams and Mrs. Virginia Bybee attended the funeral services of Kaci Marquez in Boise on Saturday. They later visited Mrs. Boyd Bridges. They also called on Mrs. Madge Wilson who is staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Green and Mrs. Mildred Peterson who is a patient at St. Lukes Hospital. • • • Mrs. Frank Byers is visiting in Donnelly this week with her son, Mr. and Mrs. John Sommars and family and daughter, the Rev and Mrs. Jim Farmer and family. She will also visit her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Grant in Lewiston. She will return home this weekend with the Sommars. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Elton Clapp. Mrs. Neta Mae Wiley, Emily and Raymond attended a dinner in Caldwell Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Wilev in honor of Emily’s fifteenth birthday. Other guests were Charlotte Sandefer and her father Clarence Sandefer and ne- phew. Robert Sandefer Mr. and Mrs. Paul Riley and children all of Caldwell and Mrs. Wiley’s sister. Mrs. Vaneta Wilson from Colorado • • • Sunday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Griffin were her sister. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Betterton of Jerome. Another sister. Mr. and Mrs. Ashford Fields from Notus accompanied Mrs. Griffin to the LDS Conference Sunday morning. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Haroldsen enjoyed a week long visit with Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Haroldsen and family in Eagle. They returned home on Sunday. • • • Mr. and Mrs. Walt Looney and boys were Sunday dinner guests of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Gann. Following dinner the group went to Juntura to visit Mr. and Mrs. Burton Richey. • • • Mrs. Merle Johnson atten ded a family reunion at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Sweaney in Caldwell on Sunday. Utah visi ted the Flinders on Friday. • • • Guests attending a birth day dinner prepared by Mrs. Joel Mitchell in honor of Joel and his son Wayne at the Mitchell home on Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Oxnam. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Towne this week. « • • Nyssa Students Receive Awards Mrs. Hazel Farr was a Sunday dinner guest of her sister-in-law. Mrs. Blanche Weeks. Following dinner the ladies called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Weeks in Parma. • • • Anna Marie Dority. daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Dority of Nyssa, received first place in the Soroptimist Youth Citizenship contest. Bruce Ray Corn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Corn. Nyssa was second place winner. Both young people received savings bonds to be used to further their education. Miss Dority is a senior at Nyssa High School. She is president of Giris Athletic Association, a cadet teacher in physical education, activity chairman for Pep Club, was president of her class junior year, and is active in scouts, her church, as a candy striper, in sports and band. Her entry will compete in the Northwest Regional con test. Corn, also a senior at Nyssa High, is vice president and chairman of the parlimen- tary team for Future Farmers of America. He has received numerous FFA awards. He is active in stage and pep band and farms 113 acres by himself. The contest open to Mal heur County high school seniors, drew 13 entries. Each contestant wrote an essay answering the question how they viewed their citizen ship responsibility in the family, the community and the world. Friday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Lundy were her sister. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Becker of Mabton. Washington. They were en route home from a vacation trip. a • • Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Muri Lancaster were their daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hobson and children of Hagerman. Mrs. Hobson and the grandchil dren stayed to visit a few days this week. BRIDGE ACTIVITIES Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Wilson hosted the Couple's Bridge Club Saturday, February 8. Preceding bridge, members enjoyed dinner at the Twi light Cafe. High score win ners for the evening were Mrs. Don Oldemeyer. Mrs. Boyd Wilson and I Gale Christensen. • • • Mrs. David Sarazin en- tertained members of the Friday Afternoon Bridge Club on February 7. Guest player was Mrs. Bob Wilson. Winning honors went to Mrs. Wilson. Mrs. John Stringer and Mrs. Sarazin. • • • Members of the Couples Bridge Club were entertained Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Wie- neke. Guests for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Rod Holcomb and Mrs. Lucile Myrick. This club keeps a running score. Mrs. Frank Morgan en tertained members of the Thursday Afternoon Bridge Club February 6. Guests were Mrs. Bumall Brown of Ogden, Utah and Mrs. Gene Stunz. Winning honors went to Mrs. Harry Miner and Mrs. Tom Eldredge. ORDER OF EASTERN STAR Stardusters met February 10 at the home of Louise Wernick with Myrtle Sasser as co-hostess. Twelve members answered roll call with President Patricia Mar cum presiding. Plans for next year's bazaar were discussed. After the meeting was closed all the members worked on Valentine nut cups for Friendship night to be held February 17. The next meeting will be March 10 with hostesses Marie Holmes and Cleta deBoer. PINOCHLE PARTIES The Tuesday Afternoon Card Club met February 4 at the home of Mrs. Verna Martin. High honors went to Mrs. Bertha Rudclick with Mrs. Harnett Warren taking low. The ladies will meet February 18 at the home of Mrs. Virgie Rookstool at 1 D.m. February 20 in the multi-purpose room at the Primary Building at 8 p.m. Nyssa High School Princi pal, Gene Chester will be in charge of the program. He will explain the new Oregon graduation requirements that are partially in effect with this year's freshmen class. There will be no high school graduation requirements as such, but there will be Oregon graduation require ments that each graduating student must meet. This meeting should be of special interest to parents with students that will be gradua ting in 1978 and after, and of interest to the whole com munity. A nominating committee for the nomination of officers for next year will be chosen and plans for a membership drive are underway. Not present when the picture was taken were Bob Smith, son-in-law and Kim Bybee, grandson. An open house honoring the 50th wedding anni versary of Mr. and Mr». Shay Bybee was held Saturday. January 25 at the Eagles Hall In Nyssa with 250 signing the guest book. The event was hosted by the couple's four children and all their grand children were present but one. Highlight of the day was a surprise gift of tickets for a six-day vacation trip to Acapulco. The reception table was centered with a beautifully decorated anniversary cake, made by Mrs. Roma Alvord, sister of Mrs. Bybee. The family tree and genealogical chart were displayed as were many lovely floral bouquets and anniversary cards, re ceived by the honorees. Long distance calls came from Jim Russell in Los Angeles and Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Kesler in Mesa. Arizona. Following the open house, a steak supper was served at the Eagles, for approximately 35 guests. Out-of-town guests inclu ded: Mmes and Messrs. D. O. Bybee. Grand View. Idaho; Eddie Keyser. Seattle; Morris Baker. Burley. Idaho. Russell Jorden, Nampa; Owen Froerer. Sr.. Vale; The Adrian Garden Club met Monday afternoon with Mrs. Gladys Newbill. A good crowd attended. The presi dent, Mrs. Varner Hopkins had charge of the meeting. Mrs. Bert Barnes gave the secretary and treasurers re ports. Roll call was answered by the name of a Hawaiian song. Mrs. Bea Grossnickle told of her trip to Hawaii at Christmas time, when she sjient two weeks visiting her son. She showed picture jxistcards and photographs of scenery there. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting and help the PTSA do bigger and better things for your child, your schools and your com munitv. The seventh grade choir, under the direction of Jeff Sandburg. Nyssa Choir Direc tor will provide the musical entertainment for the eve ning. 4-H Uveotoci (lab Arcadia 4-H Livestock Club will hold their first meeting Thursday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m at the Leroy Mecham home mile west of Clark Blvd . on Eureka Avenue. All youngsters, interested in animals, who were 9 years to 18 years. January I. 1975 are invited to attend. Bybees Take Mexico Trip Mr. and Mrs. S. P Bybee returned Monday, February J from a six-day trip to 'Acapulco. Mexico. The trip was a gift from their children for their 50th wedding anniversary. They flew to the lively tourist town, arriving there early in the evening. The six days were full of interesting sights and happenings Mrs. Bybee shopped and enjoyed the market place where each merchant set up his place of business in individual stalls. They took a tour of the city and saw the governor's home. John Wayne's home and the home of Johnny Weismuller The couple attended the bullfights and also got to see the cliff divers perform their very beautiful dives into the sea from the high cliffs. The flowers were very beautiful and fruit was very plentiful. The Bybees changed planes in the Mexico City Airport and were surprised that they were expected to change their own bags from one plane to the other in this very large airport. They were also in Los Angeles and San Francisco during stop-overs on their return to Nyssa. W.W. Foster (Celebrates 89th Birthday W W Foster celebrated his 89th birthday Sunday, February 2 (his actual birth date was February 3) at the Malheur Memorial Nursing Home. Those who enjoyed the delicious turkey dinner at his table were his wife. Mrs. Foster, his daughter, Mr and Mrs. Raymond Sager, Angie Cook and Cliff Main. Following the dinner they were served the traditional birthday cake that was given to Mr. Foster for the occasion by Cliff Main. Happy Doi«n Club M««ts Equitable Savings Past Masters Club District 419 met Monday, February 10 at the Masonic Hall in Nyssa with President Foy Sasser presiding. Love, Chair man and President. The 1974 per share earnings are based upon 1,827.250 average shares outstanding during the year. Love said that "net after tax earnings including sub sidiaries for 1974 totaled $2.998.000 compared with $4.464.000 for 1973.
