OREGON TRAIL GRANGE IlCKETS FOR 1 HE AAUW "Salad Spree and Fashion Notes” to be presented Saturday, April 14. at the Elks Lodge in Ontario may be purchased from Ruth Ingebritson, left, Ontario, or Jan Barton and Nora Ballou, Nyssa. The luncheon will be served continuously from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A style show, featuring models from Nyssa, Ontario and Vale will show fashions horn Nyssa and Ontario stores at 11 15 and 12 15. The event is a benefit to provide a scholarship to TVCC for the 1973-74 school year. Nampa Stampede To Feature Female Singers • : ' ; • • ' • Lynn Anderson and Jody Mil ler, two of the nations top fe male country-western vocalists have been signed up to entertain Stampede spectators at the 58th annual Snake River Stampede, July 17 • 21 according to A. E. Voyles. Stampede President. Lynn, who will I n - appearing at the rodeo on the first three nights, has proven herself tube one of tin- youngest, prettiest and above all, most talented stars in the country and wes- tern sky. She’s made appearances on the Hee Haw series, the Johnny Cash Show, th«- Joey Bishop Show and recently appeared on the Kraft Music Hall. Her cur rent hit recording, "Rose Gar den” Is a million seller and tops both th.- p<g> and country wes tern charts. Many will remem ber Lynn as a talented singer on the l-awrence Welk program where she continues to make appearances "whenever I can make it to California." The second star of the 1973 Stampede, Jody Miller, willen- tertain on July 20 and 21, the last two nights of (I m - Nampa rodeo, Voyles said. Jody was born In Phoenix, Arizona, raised in Oklahoma and has a southwestern warmth that comes across in her re laxed, easy-going manner of performing. She lias a “girl next duor" appearance which captivates every audience she has appeared before. She entertains with both con temporary and country songs, and says her finest audiences have been the Gl who she has entertained in the Far East. "I suppose,” says Jody, "1 was a more pleasant type of bombshell to their ears.” Jody's first recording, "He Walks Like a Man,” was an immediate hit when made In 1964, and another nation-wide hit "Queen of th»- House” ear ned her a Grammy Award in 1966. Voyles said the Stamped«- Board of Directors were very pleased to be able to get Lynn and Jody for the 1973 Rodeo - continuing a [ast policy of pre senting the top talent of the entertainment world to Stam pede spectators. PoMul Service Oregon Trail Grange mem bers met Thursday evening, April 5, with Master Ernie MetcaH presiding. Legislative Committee mem ber Astrid Stephen called at tention to the possible closing of the Tumor Institute at Boise and asked if there was any ac tion the Grange could take to help keep the Institute in ope ration. Iva Adams and Sadie Metcalf were appointed as a committee to check with the Institute for advice. Mr. and Mrs. John Price were welcomed as new mem- bers. Refreshments were served by the Metcalfs and the Wyatt Smiths. The next regular meeting will be held Thursday evening, April 19, 8 30 p.m. The "Gra< • " will be in charge of the pro gram during the Lecturer's hour. Members are urged to bring craft items, old dolls, or childhood pictures for the dis play table. COMMIT! EE OF WOMEN’S ACTIVITIES OREGON TRAIL GRANGE Members of the Committee of Women’s Attiviti* of Ore« gon Trail Grange met Tues day afternoon, April 3 at the home of Violet Drydale. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Polly Ho lub and the devotional was gi ven by Mildred Sisson. Th» program consisted of instruction by Naomi Vinson- haller on how to make a''tooth brush’’ rug. The roll call subject was on garden tips and much timely advice was given. Refreshments were provi ded by co-hostess Laura Ward. The next regular meeting will be held Tuesday afternoon, May 1, 2 p.m. at the homeofThelma Parr with Orma Cleaver as co-hostess.
