Kingman Kolonv PREPARING TABLE DECORATIONS for the annual Pairs and Spares Night banquet is JudyNielson, left and Carol Kneiffel. The dinner is a combined activity of the Christian Business and Professional Women and the Christian Women’s club. The banquet will be held February 10 at 7:15 at the Weese building on the campus of TVCC. Featured speaker will be Bill Newell of Lebanon, Oregon, who is chairman of the Oregon State Board of Parole. Tickets are $3.25 and will be sold in advance only. They may be obtained at the home of Doris Kent, 208 South 4th Street, in Nyssa or from individual members. GRANGE NEWS Members of Oregon Trail Grange met in regular session Thursday evening, January 18, with Master Ernie Metcalf pre siding. Grange officers who were un able to attend the joint instal lation service at Vale were in stalled by County Deputy Dale Teter assisted by Judy And- regg acting Marshall. Don and Clara Somers were Regalia and Emblem Bearers. Officers in stalled were Harold Kurtz, Overseer, Duane Buchtel, Gate Keeper; Orma Cleaver, Chap lain; Lois Boenig, Secretary; Betty Kurtz, Ceres; Ellen Jones, Musician. Deputy Teter announced that installation of Pomona Grange officers would be held Sunday, January 28, Boulevard Grange Hall, 2 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. All Mai- heur County Grangers are urged to attend. Refreshments will be served by Boulevard Grange members. The date for the FFA speak ing contest to be held at Ore gon Trail Grange was set for Monday, January 29. A potluck dinner will be served at 7 p.m. with the speeches to fol low. Parents are invited and grangers are urged to attend this meeting. Visitors from other Granges were Mrs. Ruth Simler of Ka miah and William Andregg of Big Bend Grange. The December meeting was canceled due to inclement weather. For that meeting, a gift exchange had been planned. The gift exchange party will be held at the Feb ruary 18 meeting. The group welcomed back Bob Watson of John Day, after a long absence. After dinner, he recited a poem he had writ ten entitled ‘‘The Day After Christmas.” Commander Joe Moore con ducted the Barracks meeting and president Vivian Laurance presided over the Auxiliary meeting. Veteran's Auxiliary Volun teer Service (VAVS) « hairman, Muriel McCutchen reported the Auxiliaries have been asked to make lap robes for the Veterans Hospital in Portland. She sug gested members make bkxks two feet square, then they can lx* set together. The robes are to be lined with outing flannel.
