Thursday, June 8, 1972 Mrs. Mike (Candy) Lawless and son Ira of Clarkston, Wash, were recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bartron. * * • Memorial Day houseguests of Mrs. Blanche Weeks was Mr. and Mrs. Otis Squier of Boise and Serm Suddhiphayak of Caldwell. Serm attended college in Provo and is now em ployed at Caldwell. * * * Mrs. Blanche Weeks and Mrs. Dareld Steinke of Vale attended the graduation excercises of Denzel Weeks at EOC in La- Grande, Saturday June 3. Den zel received a BA degree. • * * Sunday Mrs. Blanche Weeks attended a family barbecue at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Durante in Apple Valley. * * * Memorial weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Her man Towne were Mrs. Richard Kimmell and Chet Pulsipher of Phoeniz; Mrs. Nellie Redford and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Humphrie of Hammett, Idaho. * * • Mr. and Mrs. Frank Skeen and daughter, Pam recently vi sited Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Skeen and Jamie Jo in Provo, Utah. They visited Brigham Young University while in Provo and Utah State University in Ogden. * • • Leon Bartholomew of San Francisco arrived May 27 to spend the Memorial weekend with his mother Mrs.C.T. Bar tholomew. Leon returned to his home June 3. * * * Jack Dail, who has been at tending Portland State College, will be one of the graduates of that institute on June 11 at the Memorial Coliseum, with a degree in Business Adminis tration. Lee Dail and family plan to attend the exercises for graduation. » ♦ ♦ Gary Dail, wife and three children; Jack Dail, wife and two children spent Memorial Day weekend at the home of their father, Lee Dail. ♦ » » Mr. and Mrs. Harold Glas- eock of McCall spent one day at their local home visiting with their daughter and grand children, Mrs. Gary Dail. ♦ » » Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dail vi sited with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Poole, parents of Mrs. Jack Dail, who reside in Ontario, while here during the Memo rial weekend. ♦ ♦ ♦ The Rod Holcombs were the guests of the Howard Myricks at a barbecue last Sunday. Th« Nyssa Oat« City Journal, Nyssa, Or«gon OSU Grad DOYLE RIGGS Doyle Reed Riggs was among the 3,400 candidates receiving degrees atOregonState Univer sity June 4, 1972. He received the degree of Bachelor of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Doyle, a 1968 graduate of Nyssa High School is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Riggs of Nyssa. Mrs. K.A. Danford and Mrs. John Stringer sponsored a going-away party for Kay La- Fay recently. Mrs. LaFay will be moving to Oregon City in the near future. ♦ » * Mr. and Mrs. Jim Williams and Barbara spent last week visiting in Newberg. It also served as a business trip. They spent two days on the coast near Lincoln City. On the return tripWednesday they visited the John Studer family in Culver, which is near Madras. Studers were former Nyssa residents. ♦ ♦ ♦ Mr. and Mrs. Emil Stunz have returned home after a two week visit at the home of their daughter Mrs. N. K. (Gretta) Bleakman at Portland. There they attended the wedding of their granddaughter, Betsy Stunz and Stuart Heningson in Salem, May 20. They were also present at the high school graduation of grand son Richard Bleakman. Richard graduated with honors from Da vid Douglas HighSchool and was awarded a four year athletic scholarship to the University of Montana at Missoula. ♦ ♦ ♦ Mrs. Bertha Russell of Lars- len, Montana is visiting at the home of her brother, Emil Stunz all of this week. ♦ ♦ ♦ Mr. and Mrs. Warren Adams of Caldwell spent the weekend visiting at the homes of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Bertram. Floyd and Mary Whitehead NEW MANAGERS AT They will continue to operate the MIRAGE in Adrian, and Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ballou and Joy spent last weekend at Ox bow Dam. Also going camping were Mrs. Ballou’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Howell of Wilder and her brother Mr. and Mrs. Charles Howell and fa mily from La Grande. • * • Mr. and Mrs. Elven Day and children Fred, John and Tina left yesterday after spending a week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Byers. Mrs. Byers, her daughter and grand daughter visited the Rev. and Mrs. James Farmer in Donnelly Saturday. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Elton Clapp and Raymond and Emily Wiley attended Susan Clapp’s high school graduation in Stayton, Oregon. They also went down to the coast near Pacific City. While there they visited Mrs. Clapp’s brother. » » • Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cottle spent Memorial weekend in Smithfield, Utah visiting friends. They also visited Mrs. Cottle’s sister, Mrs. Merland Hanson. ♦ ♦ * Mr. and Mrs. Owen Gann and boys visited in Juntura over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Finley and family of Eugene were also there. * * * Mrs. William A. Lipscomb and Jeni of Eureka, Nevada are spending a few days visiting her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Grunke and family. The Lipscomb’s are in the pro cess of moving from Nevada to Nampa. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Harold- sen and family of Tacoma spent Memorial weekend visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Haroldsen of Nyssa. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Paul Heldt visited Mrs. A.L. Heldt over the weekend. The Heldts were on their way home after vi siting relatives in Elgin. They live in San Bernardino, Calif. ♦ ♦ ♦ Attending a wedding this past Sunday was Mrs. Tom Johnson. John Vetsch’s wedding was held on the Boise depot grounds by the lily pond. ♦ ♦ ♦ Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Keck and Keith visited his mother, Mrs. A.H. Keck over the week end. » ♦ ♦ The Ralph Lawrences spent the Memorial weekend in Eu gene visiting relatives and friends. Martha Sue Lawrence accompanied them on the trip and they took her to Corvallis to visit her sister Linda, who is a senior at Oregon State Uni versity. The Lawrences met Bill Ma- drene who was on his way to Korea to pick up fifteen or phans for Holt Orphanage. ♦ ♦ * Mr. and Mrs. Willis Bertram and Mr. and Mrs. Chet Sage attended graduation exercises of Robert Jamison of Nampa, May 30.
