If so, the Malheur Community Concerts Association invites you to join in this special series of concerts to celebrate their 25th year. Membership is $8.00 per year, the concerts are sche duled at the Ontario High School Auditorium. At the conclusion of the membership drive April 14, the other concert will be chosen. Anyone interested in becoming a member is asked to call Mrs. Joe Maughn at 372-3143. The association was formed 25 years ago and is a volun teer and non-profit organi zation. Funds from member ship dues are used to pay the artists contracted by the New York office. Stuart Nall, vice-president, will be in Ontario to speak to the organization Monday, April 10, at a dinner for officers, captains and workers. Mrs. Be- nard Eastman will be among the charter workers and members to be honored. Mrs. Gene Chester, chair man, has scheduled the affair at the East Side Cafe to begin at 7 p.m. Happy Dozen Club Mrs. Dale Ashcraft enter tained with a dessert luncheon for the Happy Dozen Card Club Friday afternoon at her Nyssa home. There were three tables of Pinochle in play. Mrs. Elsie Diven and Mrs. Merle Johnson were guest players. Prizes were won by Mrs. Sue Ash- craft, Mrs. Annie VanderOord, Mrs. Gnetty Piercy and Mrs. Thelma Hammon. Shawna Manning, celebrated her 11th birthday which was Easter Day and her brother Tony, was 12 years old April 3. In doing a little research, their parents, the Darrel Mannings of Notus discovered that Shawna will have an Easter birthday ap proximately every 11 years,but Tony’s birthday will never occur on Easter Day. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Riggs grandparents of the honorees were guests for the combined Easter and birthday dinner last Sunday at the Darrel Manning home. Cheese Blintzes Sour Cream Owyhee Garden Club (as prepared at Rose s Restaurant in Portland) 3 eggs % cup cake flour Hosts District Meet CHEESE BLINTZES 1 '/a cups milk Ya tsp salt Butter for frying CHEESE FILLING 1 lb. cottage cheese % tsp sugar 2 egg yolks 1 Tablespoon sour cream Yt tsp salt 1 Tablespoon flour ’/• tsp grated Lemon Rind Beat eggs and add flour and milk alternately to make a thin batter Add salt Pour about 3 tablespoons of batter on a well-buttered griddle or frying pan. spreading it as thin as possible Let fry until brown and turn out on a tea towel, browned side up. B ! ■ — | The Owyhee Garden Club will host the District meeting of District « 11 garden clubs to be held in Nyssa Saturday, April 8. The meeting will consist of two sessions and will be held at the United Methodist Church in Nyssa. Registration and coffee hour is scheduled for 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at noon. There is a charge of $1.75 for the luncheon. The afternoon session con sists of making plans for the State Convention to be held at TVCC in Ontario this June. ONE GOOD JOB DESERVES ANOTHER. Special guest, Miss Mildred Reel, national adviser of FHA from Washington D.C., will be featured. In “Digging Session”, a new addition to the state meeting, delegates will be sitting on the floor in informal discussion groups — using the publication ‘Encounter’. All chapters will share re sponsibilities of the state meet ing. Sharon and Eileen will help usher. It has been the custom of the Nyssa FHA Chapter to recog nize this event by sponsoring an FHA week. All NHS teachers and secre taries were presented with a small red ribbon rose—FHA’s official flower, March27. Other events included presenting flo wers tothe nursinghome, wear ing red and white clothing (FHA’s official colors) and gi ving cookies to all the NHS student body. Climaxing the week will be the annual FHA State Meeting in Corvallis, Oregon, April 7 and 8. Attending the conven tion will be Mrs. Virginia Stef fens, FHA adviser; Sharon Kurtz, chapter president; and Eileen Joyce, chapter vice-pre sident. "Opportunity's The Key — Let It Begin With Me" will be Job’s Daughters of Bethel #33 met in regular session March 30 with Honored Queen Mar lene Jamieson presiding. Escorted and introduced were Sharlene Kido, past honored queen; Roberta Kurtz and Glenda Barnes, past princesses Della and Bob Holmes, guardian and associate guardian, all of Bethel #33 Nyssa. The girls voted to celebrate their 25th anniversary later this summer instead of this April as planned. Honored Queen Marlene set a tentative date of April 21 for a slumber party. Susan Davis, senior princess is making plans for her fund raising project to be held soon. Funds will be used to help fi nance the girls’ trip to Grand Session in Medford this June. All Jobies are reminded to bring $5.25 to the next regu lar meeting if they wish to pur chase a Jobie jacket. Orders will be taken at that time.
