Mr. and Mrs. Charlie W. Smith of Nyssa, announce the marriage of their daughter, Sally, to Gary M. Young of On tario. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Young of Ironside, Oregon. The couple were united in marriage Sunday, April 18,1971 in Reno, Nevada. The bride was graduated from Nyssa High School in 1970. She is employed at the Miss K-G in West Park Plaza. Her husband, a 1968 graduate of Ontario High School, is employed at the Circle K Food Store, Ontario. The young couple are making their first home at 238 S.W. 10th Ave. A reception honoring the newlyweds is being planned for Saturday May 1st at the Christ ian Church in Ontario. Christian Women’s Meeting To Feature Style Show JOB’S DAUGHTERS ACTIVITIES Job’s Daughters of Bethel #33 met in regular session April 22, with Honored Queen Sharlene Kido presiding. Escorted and introduced were Pat Marcum, Past Hon ored Queen and Worthy Matron of Golden Rule Chapter of Eas tern Star; Roberta Kurtz, Past Princess; Ellen Smith, Honored Queen, Bethel #25, Ontario and member of grand bethel choir. Guardians and Associate Guardians, Mrs. Leona Miller and Tom Smith, Bethel #25, Ontario, Della and Bob Holmes, Louise Wernick, Past Guard ian all of Bethel 33, Nyssa. Council members were intro duced. Grand Guardian will visit May 6th. A picnic is planned for 6:15 p.m., and the intitiation meeting will be held at the Ma sonic Hall at 7;15 p.m. Practice will be held at the Hall Sunday May 2nd at 2 p.m. The messengers and top five are to be present for the prac tice. There will be a practice for everyone on Tuesday May 4 at 4:30 p.m. Grand Guardian will visit On tario Bethel May 5th and Nyssa Bethel is invited to attend. Honored Queen Sharlene Kido’s “Go to Church Sunday" was at the Lutheran Church, April 25. Jobie of the meeting was Kelyn Michael. Refreshments were served by Roberta Kurtz of the hospita lity committee. All interested women of the area are invited to make ne cessary reservations by call- ing Mrs. Charles Nelson 889- 5895. A group from the local council, plan to attend the Stonecraft Area Conference to be held this coming weekend at the Rodeway Inn, Boise. Those planning to attend are Mrs. Rollo Kent and Mrs. Adam Focht, Nyssa; Mrs. Pheral Dod son and Mrs. George Dohner, Nu Acres; Margaret Honstadt, Mrs. Fred Norman, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Haines and Mrs. Ro bert O*Harra, Ontario; Donna Shenk, Homedale. This conference is a yearly happening and this year begins Friday noon and lasts through Sunday noon May 2nd. There will be a numberof local people going over for parts of the con ference. Christian Women’s Lu.ncheon Meeting Members of Emblem Club #192 held their regular busi ness session April 26 at the Elks Lodge. President Annabell Herndon conducted the meeting. Mrs. Pat McCoshum was appointed as new chairman of the blood bank. Mrs. Pearman Rowe has served as chairman for the blood bank for the past two years. Mrs. Arlene Uhlam was ap pointed chairman of the bow ling league. Members are urged to sign up now for the fall bowling season. Refreshments were served following the meeting. Lester Strawn home were Mr. Firemen Summoned Nyssa Volunteer firemen an swered a call April 21, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Saito, 819 Adrian Blvd. The call came around 8 p.m. The fire was caused by a kitchen ventilating fan. It is reported that extensive damage was done to the attic and roof. There was also smoke and water damage. FAREWELL DINNER HONORS STUDENTS A potluck dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tensen Thursday, April 22. It was in honor of two Lebanon High School, AFS can didates for the Americans Ab road program. The students, Jacquie Duerr and Bob May recently spent two weeks visiting in Nyssa and attending high school here. Jacquie was a guest at the Dorothy Wilson home and Bob stayed with the Dick Tensen family. Approximately 30 young people attended the party and games of all sorts were played after dinner. While here Jacquie and Bob also enjoyed April 17th, pic nicking and sight-seeing at the Owyhee Reservoir with the Dick Tensen and Dorothy Wilson families. Sunday April 18. the students and Tensens had a picnic dinner at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Wilson. The students returned to their homes Friday April 23. College Students Slate Rodeo Mrs. Ray Larson entertained members of the Firday After noon Bridge club. Guest players were Mrs. Arleigh Adams and Mrs. Herb Fisher. There were three tables in play and pirze winners were Mrs. Ted Morgan, Mrs. Ken Danford and Mrs. John Stringer. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Fred Guthrie entertained Mr. and Mrs. Sat urday Night Bridgeclub at their home last week. A report was given on the area meeting of Hospital Auxi liaries, held in La Grande, April 14. Mrs. Bob Wilson and Mrs. Dick Tensen attended the meet ing. Plans for a volunteer service and various money raising pro jects were discussed. Next meeting will be Monday, May 24, and anyone interested in helping and members are urged to attend. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Bob Wilson. W GROCERY Planned Wednesday Auxiliary Activities The monthly meeting of the Treasure Valley Christian Wo men’s Club will be held Wed nesday May 5. The buffet luncheon will be at the La Paloma Cafe in Ontario at 1p.m. The special attraction for the occasion will be a spring fa shion show put on by Alexan der’s of Weiser. The narrator will be Christobel Clark. Mu sical numbers will be furnished by Wanda Johnson and Thelma Anderson of Nyssa. The speaker for the meeting is Sylivia Zimmerman from Baker. This is the idea behind the St. Bridget Altar Society Com munity Card and Social party to be held at the Social Hall, 504 Locust Avenue in Nyssa Friday, May 7, at 8 p.m. Mrs. John Studer and Mrs. Jim Williams have Mrs. Jim Grunke, Mrs. Wilton Jackson and Mrs. Tom Jayo helping with decorations; Mrs. Ruben Lopez and Mrs. Harry McGinley are in charge of publicity, Mrs. John Dority and Mrs. Charles Quin- owski, food; Mrs. George Sallee, tickets, which are $1.25 for each admittance; Mrs. Art Bos- selman, prizes; and Barbara Williams is in charge of high school girls who will serve. Tables will be set up for bridge, pinochle, canasta, po ker and for those who wish to “chatter.” Mrs. Lopez, Mrs. Otis Smith and Mrs. Herman Towne will be in charge of re- servations and they ask that people call prior to the party to make reservations at the bridge and pinochle tables. Music for the affair will be by singer Linda Dane who, as a student at TVCC was the queen in “Camelot” and also took part in “Brigadoon”. Worthy Matrons and Patrons presiding were; Katherine Wil liams, John Harm of Golden Chain 103 Vale; Mr. and Mrs. Klass Powell, Star Chapter 69, Ontario; Patricia Marcum and Ray Bacon, Golden Rule 131, Nyssa. Distinguished guests pre sented and introduced were: Worthy Grand Matron of Ore gon, Grace I. Ewing and Wor thy Grand Matron of Idaho, Roberta Showalter; Past Grand Patrons of Idaho, Leon Rosa, Jim Wheelock and Gail Ander son.
