The Governor said, “In Ore gon we grow nearly every crop indigenous to this temperate zone. Because of our mild climate, cool nights, abundant rainfall, fertile soils, and skilled growers and processors, we produce a variety of food and fiber products that are un surpassed in quality anywhere in the world. “Oregon is synonomous with the word quality. Our manu factured products, too, are sought throughout the nation and the world because of this dis tinction of prime quality. “In recognition of this achievement of man and fortune of nature, the Agri-Business Council has created an Oregon symbol of excellence called the “Landmark of Quality,” and an annual week-long observanceof Oregon’s quality products called Landmark of Quality Week. “I do hereby designate the week of August 23-29 as Land mark of Quality Week, and call upon all citizens of the State of Oregon to participate in this tribute to Oregon products of consistent and established qua lity.” Packwood Wants To Abolish Seniority For Commitee Chairmen It used to be that if you dared ject — financed wholly by pri say economize to a politician vate businesses and industries zing states with more dynamu he’d scoff and brand you poli lending Task Force members, Senator Bob Packwood (R- two-party structures. tically naive. it was hoped to produce re Ore.)
