Officers were seated by Assistant Stewards protem Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ballou. Grange members heard a report on the proceedings of Oregon State Grange held re cently at Hood River. Delegate Mrs. James Stephen reported that a net gain of 437 memtiers was recorded for 1969. The Fifth and Sixth degrees were exemplified with 333 members receiving the Sixth degree. It was announced that Mrs. Tom Drvdale had received first prize award at the Pomona level in the canning contest for her jelly. Mis. Ira Price was the winner of the third place award for peaches. Mrs. Price was winner also of the fifth place State award for canned fruit. The award entitles Mrs. Price and husband to three days vacation at the beautiful, world- famous Empress Hotel at Victoria, B.C. A change in the date for the grange picnic was announced. It will be held Sunday, August 2, at the James Stephen home instead of July 19, as previously announced. Members are re quested to bring their own table service and chairs. Refreshments were servedto 19 members and two young guests by the Ralph Thomas and Elvin Ballou couples. The next regular meeting will be held July 16, beginning at 8:30 p.m. AH grange members are urged to attend.
