NYSSA, OIIOON TVCWC Meeting Verna Coffinberry Installed Set Wednesday As President Of Emblem Club 'Garden Fantacies’ will be theme used by the members of the Treasure Valley Chris tian Women’s Club for their May 7 luncheon meeting at the La Paloma cafe in Ontario. Special guest will be Mini Jane Johnson, one of the most popular women speakers of the day. She is a national repre sentative of Christian Women’s clubs and Christian Business and Professional councils. The ‘Gals Friday’, from Fri day Musical, will present the musical portion of the program. Mrs. Leona Anderson of Idaho Power will conduct a program on 'Garden Lighting’. The luncheon will begin at 1 p.m. and everyone is cord ially invited at attend. Reser vations may be made by calling Betty Lewis 889-6538. BOYD ESPLIN Assisting with serving was Mrs. Gary Garrison and Mrs. Fred Huffman, setving punch; Mrs. Marion English, serving coffee; Mrs. Richard Esplin and Mrs. Fred Plowhead serving cake. Among out of the area guests were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bul lock of Utah. The bride is a graduate of Nyssa high school and Links Business college in Boise. The groom attended Nyssa high and served four years in the Navy, He is presently employed at Elliott Tire Center in Nyssa, For their wedding trip to Boise the bride chose a beige dress of bonded wool. The newlyweds are now re siding in the Sunset Valley area. while bridesmaids were Junia Kay Mitchell and Linda Mecham, all of the girls wore floor length A-line gowns of peach colored crepe and car- ried corsages of matching gladioli. Lisa Esplin acted as flower girl, with Bryan Huffman ser ving as ring bearer. Soloist Linda Ballou was accompanied by Jane Ballou. Richard Esplin servedas best man and ushers were Robert Esplin and Fred Esplin. For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Huffman chose a turquoise dress with eyelet lace sleeves. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a lime green dress. They both wore corsages of cymbidium orchids. A three-tiered wedding cake topped with doves and accented with orange flowers was served at a reception held in the church basement following the cere New Developments in Office mony. Procedures and Commun ications was topic of Mrs. Frances Purkhiser, secretarial science instructor at Treasure Valley Community college, who adressed local secretaries at their April 23 meeting in On tario. Thirty-eight secretaries were in attendance to observe MAY 1, 2 & 3 National Secretaries Week, sponsored by Futura Chapter of NS A, and were welcomed by Mrs. Toby Rogers, chairman of the annual event. Mrs. Rogers explained that this year’s theme was “Better Secretaries Make Better Business", and defined secretaries as “executive as sistants who possess a mastery of office skills, who demon strate the ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, who exercise ini tiative and judgment, and who LET US - make decisions within the scope of assigned authority." Sheila Huffman became the bride of Boyd Esplin in a double-ring ceremony per formed at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 1969 in the United Methodist church In Nyssa. Parents of the newlyweds are Mr. and Mrs. Ray B. Huffman and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Es plin, both of Nyssa. The ceremony wassolemized by the Rev. Donald Crego of the Nyssa United Methodist church, in the presence of 125 guests. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor length A-line gown of bonded crepe, with long sleeves, a lace trimmed train and floor length veil. She carried a bou quet of white glamellias backed by dark green salal leaves. The church was decorated with baskets of peach colored gladioli. The Hazel Fishback award goes to Mrs. Vincent Derig, an instructor at Treas ure Valley Community college, for graduate study leading to a doctorate degree. The Ada Harworth award goes to Cherrylee Chamberlain, a senior at Adrian high school, for study at Treasure Valley Community college. Taking high honors was Robert Wilson. * SRV Music Teachers Slate May 1 Recital Members of the SRV Music Teachers’ association will pre sent their annual spring re cital at 8 o’clock this evening, May 1 at the LDS church in Ontario. A variety of selections will be presented by piano, voice and organ students. A social hour, with refreshments, will follow the program.
