Meanwhile the group had overturned twice and finally came to a place between Mar cum’s and Bogus Creek called the Whistling Bird landmark or Ironpoint where the river makes almost a right angle turn. The group couldn't walk around the point since the can yon walls went straight up for about five hundred feet. Going upstream was impos sible because of the fast moving current and going downstream was pure suicide because the light kayaks would crash into the canyon wall attempting to make the sharp turn. One al ternative was left--to climb out, which they did after dis mantling their kayaks. Using ropes it took them two days to climb out of the canyon. Six days and twenty miles were spent altogether on their ad venture. Just before leaving Jordan Valley on their way to their various homes, a spokesman for the group said that it may be a long while before that particular adventure would be tried again, especially by this group. This is the term which poignantly describes the bride whose husband enjoys the seemingly endless stream of weekend sports on television. Well, a Washington newsman recently developed some ammunition for the male side of the argument. The reporter shifted his office to his home last year and made some interesting discoveries in the process. The follow ing narrative, quite possible smuggledoutofthehome, describes what developed: “I am fortunate. My wife enjoys baseball and football. Thus I watch televised sports perhaps more than most. How ever, as a service to other husbands, I offer information which they may use appropriately. “The next time your wife berates you for watching the ball game, ask her how Lisa Hughes is doing.
