Mr. and Mrs. Morris Huff man, who recently moved to Hollister, Idaho, have sold their home in Nyssa to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Leininger. Mrs. Huffman, who reported the sale of the property, was in Nyssa last week and was a houseguest of the C. E. Lesebergs. Huffman, formerly with the North Board of Control in Nyssa, is manager for the Sal mon River Canal company at Hollister. Prior to their moving the couple was honored with a farewell party and both were presented with nice gifts by the North Board personnel. The Leiningers have been re siding at 717 Idaho street. The Huffman couple’s address is now Rte, 1, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301. Smiths Entertain Mr. and Mrs. Joe Counsil and family of Yakama, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Chet Counsil and family of New Plymouth, Char les Moore of Ontario, Mrs. O. P. Counsil of Nyssa were guests at a buffet supper Sunday even ing in the Robert Smith home. Meet For Luncheon By Dale Witt A CANDID SHOT OF DR. K. A. AND MRS. MARIAN DANFORD, who on June 3, 1967 celebrated their silver wedding anniversary with a patio open house event in their home at 810 Reece avenue in Nyssa. One hundred forty guests called during the evening hours to extend congratulations. The Dunfords were married June ¿, 1942 at Mahnomen, Minn. They have three children, Jim, Mary and David. Jim is an insurance adjustor in Boise. He is married to the former Janice Baker and they have one son, Kirby. Mary was graduated from Nyssa high school in May, and David will be a NHS sophomore this fall. The fam ily came to Nyssa in 1952 when Ken became associated with Dr. K. E. Kerby. Marian is a registered nurse, and until about a year ago, worked part time at Malheur Memorial hospital. A group of 12 area residents met for luncheon Monday at Brownie’s cafe, after attending Group Honors funeral services for H. E. Col Mrs. Nora Graham lins. A potluck picnic was held Most of them are members of the area’s Senior Citizens’ Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brown in organization. Boydell recently visited their son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rhodes and family at Milton Freewater. Grandchild Arrives Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Judy) Martin became the parents of a baby girl, Sue Ann, July 8 at a hospital in Baker. The infant weighed six pounds, 15 ounces and was born on the 24th wedding anniversary of her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson of Nyssa. Paternal grandparents are, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mar tin of Baker. Mrs. Wilson left Tuesday to spend the remainder of the week with her daughter. Other guests were Bev erly Coxier and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Yancey of Boise, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Young of Arisona. Paul Carter of San Diego is visiting this week with Nancy Strawn. He is on furlough from the U. S. Navy. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brandt went by bus July 2 to Baker where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ralderston, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stoddard. The latter couple brought them home the following Wednesday evening. The Kingman community pic nic was held Sunday afternoon at the Adrian park, with approx imately 40 area residents pre sent. Mrs. Ethel Lane of On tario, was the only one attend ing from any distance. KINGMAN KOLONY — Wal ter Pinkston returned home June 28 from Caldwell Mem orial hospital where he under went surgery. He is reported to be steadily improving. A daughter, Violet McKee of near Alturas, Calif,, spent two weeks here and left for her home on July 5. The Rev. Eldon Hunter of Wilder was a Sunday after noon visitor in the Thomas Sant and Pinkston homes. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Begeman, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Witt, called last Thurs day evening at the Boyce and Bill Van deWater homes in Big Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Phifer and Jan went to Boise Saturday and were accompanied home by a niece who is spending this week with them while her mother is in a hospital with a new baby. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Piercy and Mrs. Bill Toomb spent Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Rube Graham at Eagle. The Grahams are former residents of this area. Group Opposes Postage Raise Members of Oregon Trail Grange met Thursday evening, July 6, with Master Don Somers presiding. Legislative Chairman Frank Sherwood reported on the pro posed raise in the first-class postage rate. Members of the grange expressed an opinion op posing the raise, but felt that a raise in the fourth-class rate would be a good thing and might eliminate some of the "junk” mail. Members voted to enter a float in the Nyssa Nite Rodeo parade, They also voted to plan a booth at the County Fair in August. Joel Price was given the ob ligation of the 4th Degree and was welcomed into the grange. Lecturer Lois Boenig report ed on the trip to State Grange. Lunch was served to 33 mem bers by Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Metcalf. Next grange meeting will be held Thursday, July 20. Angie Cook recently returnee from a trip, when she visited i daughter, Mrs. Thelma (Cook Child and family in Davis,Calif. She also visited her eldesi daughter, Dorothy (Cook) Davit of Anchorage, Alaska, who war In a San Francisco hospital after undergoing surgery. Shf is reported to be progressini satisfactorialiy. Mrs. Cook also visited other friends in San Francisco and Sacramento. She returned tc Boise where she visited her son, the Arthur Cook family before returning to her home in Nyssa. Survivor Of Tragic Mishap Visits Pratts . . . Wed in New Zealand Mr. and Mrs. Honald Stephen, who were married Dec. 17, 1966 in Christchurch, New Zealand, were greeted Sunday, July 9 by approximately 100 guests at an open house. The reception was given by the bridegroom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Stephen at their home on route 2, Nyssa. The new Mrs. Stephen is the former Diane Elizabeth Gowans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Gowans of Christchurch. Father Mohaney of St. Mary’s church in Christchurch per formed the mid-December rites, upon the bridegrixim’s return from the South Pole, Antarctica. He was stationed there as meteorologist in charge of the U. S. weather station. A reception was held, following the ceremony, in the home of the bride’s parents. The new Mrs. Stephen attended St. Mary’s anti Sacred Heart colleges (high schools) and was graduated In 1961. She Is a registered nurse and was employed at Christchurch public hospital. Her husband was graduated from Nyssa high school in 1958 and from Oregon State university a( Corvallis in 1963. Following a world trip, Including points tn South East Asia and Europe; and a visit with the bridegroom's parents, the couple will reside in Seattle, where Stephen will continue his work as meteorologist with the weather bureau. Mr. and Mrs. George Dale and family of Cheyenne, Wyo., were recent guests in the home of their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Capper. Sunday the Dales were honored with a din ner. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Briles and Ralph Capper of Boise, Mr. and Mrs. Don Wolff and Shannon, Mrs. Marie Campbell of Wilder. OREGON NEWELL HEIGHTS — Ar turo Garza visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Pratt and family. He formerly resided with his parents on the Pratt farm for several years. Four years ago he, his par ents, nine brothers and sisters were enroute to visit Mrs. Garza's relatives and were in volved in a tragic auto accident which claimed the lives of Ar turo’s father, seven of his brothers and sisters. The mishap happened near Gallup, N. M., where Arturo, his mother, a brother and one sister were hospitalized. Mrs. Garza is now residing in Alamo, Texas. MR. AND MRS.
