Hiatt Staff Sergeant Willis G Hiatt was recently awarded an Army commendation medal for meri torious service from Jan 16, 1964, to Oct. 15, 1966 During this nearly two - year period he served as supply ser geant for the instructor group, Senior Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Wash ington in Seattle. Hiatt's initiative, professional competence and tireless efforts were invaluable assets as he suc cessfully managed supply activi ties during an increase in enroll ment from 250 to 750 cadets. According to Army officials, Hiatt's outstanding abilities great ly enhanced the image of the ROTC and won respect from cad ets, cadre and faculty. His devotion to duty was in keeping with the highest military traditions and reflects great credit upon himself and the U. S. Army Hiatt arrived in Germany on Thanksgiving day, but due to his wife, the former Evelyn Young, being scheduled for surgery yes terday, Dec. 14, he is now home on a 30-day emergency leave.
