VISIT FRIENDS IN BOISE Mrs. Frances Bates and her __ daughter, Mrs. Gary Knight of Caldwell, spent last Thursday visiting friends in Boise Sunday visitors in the home of Mrs. Bates were the Gary Knight family, Mr and Mrs George Knight and George Knight Sr. of La Grande. The latter is 102 years of age. CALLED TO EMMETT Mrs. Angie Cook recently spent several days at Emmett due to the illness and death of her son's father-in-law, Roy Ulvie. MRS. DICK (LEOTA) KRIECH is beginning bar second year aa office secretary for ihe Adrian elementary school. However, this year she. together with Principal Eugene Harper, will occupy a brand new office through space made available by reason of the cafeteria being housed in a now wing. When a Journal photographer visited the school plant last Thursday, there were still "heaps" of finishing touches being made to the building in preparation for opening of school. E. J. Clifford, route 1, Nys sa, is attending the 190.1-67 course at the Army War college, Carlisle Barracks, Pa. . During the 10-month course, which began Aug, 10, he is re ceiving instruction in subjects de signed to prepare him for top- I level armed service or govern ment position. According to an Army news re lease, Col. Clifford is one of 205 civilian and military men care fully selected from Armed Forces i and government agencies to at tend the college this year. PLANS WORK IN JAPAN Miss Frances Foster arrived Friday by bus from California to spend some time with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W W. Foster. She had taught for two years at Christian Village school in Los Angeles and plans to leave in October for missionary work in Japan.
