OREGON All-Siars Advance io Slaie Tourney; Tonight's Game to Be Aired on Radio The Ontario Elks - sponsored Beaver All - Stars earned a spot in the Babe Ruth state baseball tourney being held at Tigard when they took a 4-3 contest from the Ontario Van dals last Thursday evening in district competition at Her miston. The Ontario Beavers are all Oregon lads, while the •Vandals are from Idaho. After a 3-1 win over the Fern Hill team in the state tourney Sunday, the kx-al lads suffered a 7-1 defeat Monday evening at the hands of the Babe Ruth team from Klamath Falls. Dean Steinke of Vale was on the mound during the first por tion of the Monday evening game After encountering a bit of trouble and allowing four men to score, he was transferred to Centerfield and Rick Wilson of Nyssa went in as pitcher in the bottom of the sixth. The Klamath Falls team chalk ed up a 10-hit, 7-run, 3-error record as compared to a 1-1-5 tally for the Malheur county boys. Participants Listed In addition to Steinke and Wilson, other area lads partici pating in the tourney are Nys- sans Garry Berg. Steve Pecora and Joe Loera; G. B. Condra, Burdette Pratt and Pud Franks of Adrian. Other members of the all-star team are Larry Whyman, Mike Johnson, Bill Swift, Bill Burns. Dennis McCambridge, Ward Sand burg and Mark Freeman from Onatrio and Vale. Coaches are Nyssan Clarence Page and Pete Franks of Adrian, with Carl Lovitt of Adrian serv ing as manager. The Ontario Beavers will compete on the Tigard high school field again at 9 o'clock this evening (Thursday), with the game to be broadcast over radio station KSRV. FRED BENNETT, owner of the Twilight Cafe and Lounge, is displaying his prise fish, caught last week while on a long- planned trip to Lost lake. The proud angler said he was using an 18-pound test line, he land ed it in less than ?.") minutes and it broke water several times. Bennett, often question ed about his fishing and hunt ing prowess, said he caught sev eral smaller ones which he re leased.
