Ido*) *--------------------------------------- ---------- Joyce Morinaka is Nyssa’s Girl of the Year for 1962-63. She was presented with a locket at the student body assembly May 2. Girls’ League President Wilma Williamson announced Joyce’s se lection. Service to school has much to do with the selection of a Girl of the Month and ultimately a Girl of the Year. During her freshman year, Joyce was class activity chairman. Science Club secretary, a member of FHA, GAA, Girls’ League and honor band. Secretary and treasurer of her sophomore class, Joyce was also assistant point checker for FHA, a member of GAA, Girls’ League, Pep Club, honor band and Sci ence Club. FRYERS VINE-RIPE — SLICING Group Discusses Future Activities At Recent 4-H Session in Iiams Home By Mrs. Waldo Smalley APPLE VALLEY —A general 4-H meeting was held Monday evening in the Chet Iiams home. The group discussed problems each unit is having with its pro jects, the need for more study in parliamentary procedure and the forthcoming trip to June 12-15 summer camp at the Presbyterian camp near Ketchum. Five mem bers plan to attend. 4-H club congress will be June 16-22 at the University of Idaho in Moscow. To be eligible to at tend, a member must be 14 years of age and have completed two years of club work. Next general meeting will be held June 1 at the home of Billy Forsdick. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Howell and Marvin of Roswell were Saturday evening visitors in the Waldo Smalley home. Shippys Have New Son Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shippy of Weiser are parents of a son, Dan iel Robert, born May 11. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces. His grandmother, Mrs. Earl Boston, helped care for him the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kellogg, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Saunders and sons were Sunday dinner guests of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Saunders at Nampa. A group of friends and neigh bors of Luella Breneman gathered recently at the school park for an afternoon of visiting and fel lowship. Homemade ice cream, cake and coffee were served dur ing the afternoon. Enters Caldwell Hospital Mrs. Lloyd Caldwell was moved last weekend from Malheur Me morial hospital in Nyssa to Cald well Memorial hospital. She is still critically ill. Her daughter, Mrs. Glen Van Landingham, is with her. Another daughter, Mrs. Glen Johnson, is staying with her father. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rucker and family visited Sunday evening with Charles Plager. Miss Ruth Weed of Caldwell was a Tuesday guest in the Waldo Smalley home. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smalley and sons of Payette attended a barbecue dinner Saturday even ing at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Smalley. Sixth grade pupils of Apple Valley school held a wiener roast last Thursday at the Leroy Sew ard home. First through third grade students picnicked Friday at the Nyssa park. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kellogg of Ogallah, Kan., arrived May 15 to attend high school graduation ex ercises for two of their grandsons. They are at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Saunders and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cone of Vale, cousins of Mrs. Charles Pit man, were Sunday dinner guests in the Pitman home.
