This activity is part of their Community Life requirement while working on a second class rank. Another member of the troop, Jane Rush, was not on hand when the photo was taken last Thursday afternoon at the Hal Henigson residence. The girls made the doll clothes, repaired and refurbished the dolls and beds displayed in the picture. Roberts and Krause Couples Return Home From Vacation Trip to Illinois By Helen Hatch BIG BEND—Mr. and Mrs. Dyre Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. David Krause returned Saturday from a two - week vacation in Illinois. They spent most of their time with their son and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Roberts and daughter at Peoria. While there they spent one day visiting in Wenona and Ottawa, the home towns of Roberts’ parents and vis ited Starved Rock State park. The last two days of their vaca tion was spent in Chicago with Roberts’ cousins, Clyde and Bill Giller. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Giller took them sightseeing. They saw Chicago’s Museum of Natural History, Shedd Aquarium and McCormick Place. The day they were in Chicago was the coldest day in history. They encountered zero weather during the entire trip. Mr. and Mrs. Dyre Roberts and Mrs. Karen Carroll and girls spent Sunday with Mrs. Florence Henderlider at Melba. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Seuell and Lois spent the weekend visiting relatives in Washington. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cart wright and family entertained at Sunday dinner for his sister, Mrs. Helen Hobbs and boys, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cart wright. Satur day they called on Mr. and Mrs Arthur Molt and family of New Plymouth and Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Cartwright and family of Nyssa. Mrs. Elise Smith of Grants Pass, who is visiting in the Jack West fall home in Ontario, spent the weekend with her son, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Smith and family. On Tuesday Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Pearle Abbott took Mrs. Smith back to Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Smith and family of Boise and Mrs. Pearle Abbott and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chet Smith. Extension Unit Meets Mrs. Sam Tuning entertained the Big Bend Extension unit at her home Tuesday, Jan. 15, with a luncheon at noon. There were 14 members present. Mrs. Mar jorie Cameron presented the eye- opener by demonstrating a jar of homemade hand cream. A mem ber was selected for the county committee. Lesson on “Stretching the Food Dollar’’ was given by Mrs. Chester Stanton and Mrs. Johnny Samer. Mrs. Varner Hopkins, Mrs. Verl Bishop, Mrs. Pete Sillonis and Mrs. Laura Brock recently at tended a lesson on sewing tech- j i niques at the Methodist church [I in Nyssa. Mrs. Varner Hopkins attended a county extension committee | meeting Monday at the home of j Mrs. Dorothy Mason in Apple Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Varner Hopkins and Kenny were Sunday dinner l guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cruse. Leaves for Joseph Mrs. Dick Davis left by bus Friday evening for Joseph, Ore., to visit her husband, Dick; her father, James McGinnis, and oth er relatives. Mrs. James McGinnis and grandson, Stevie Davis, and Helen Hatch recently called on Mrs. j Alvon McGinnis of Adrian to wish her a happy birthday. Mrs. Lester Campbell, Mrs. Var ner Hopkins and Mrs Boyce Van DeWater attended Mission circle last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Arlo Miller. Mrs. Chet Smith and Mrs. Pearle Abbott attended funeral services Monday for Merl Dillon of Emmett. Federal Land Bank Sets Annual Meeting Annual stockholders meeting of the Federal Land Bank associa tion of Ontario will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Ameri can Legion hall in Payette, ac- j cording to Dan Roberts, associa tion manager. The meeting is ex pected to attract more than 250 farmers and ranchers from this area. Roberts said the session will be gin with registration at 11:30 a.m„ followed by a noon dinner and a business meeting. M. J.
