Ontario Emblem Club Conducts Initiation For Six New Members Ontario Emblem club No. 192 held its first business meeting of the fall season Sept. 11 in the Elks temple. Mmes. Norman Harp, George Vaughn, Sylvan E. Talbot, Ted Roots, Pauline McKenny and Walter A. Anderson were initiat ed into the organization. Convention plans were discuss ed and additional information was given concerning the ritualistic contest. Washington and Oregon clubs are planning to hold open house at the convention to sup port Mrs. Homer (Nadine) Scott for fourth supreme vice president. Boise Elkettes have issued an invitation to all Emblem members ! and wives of Elks to attend their annual play day Oct. 9. Thank you letters were read from Supreme President Mrs. Robert Harris and Mrs. Homer Scott expressing their pleasure at the hospitality and courtesies extended them during their recent visit. A letter was also read from E. M. Hauser thanking the club for their annual scholarship to 4-H summer school and from the Oregon State Medical school for the gift of the wall-suspended op erating lamp. Members voted to sell Hawaiian trip tickets for the Elks lodge. A prize of $10 will be awarded to I the lady selling the most tickets. Mrs. Harvey Williams, state president, and Mrs. Claire Carter, marshal, will visit the club in November. Next business meeting will be held Oct. 2 instead of Oct. 9 as previously planned. Hiatt Rebekah President Slates Nyssa Visit; Convention Planned According to officers of the lo cal group, a Rebekah convention will be held Sept. 23 in the IOOF hall in Ontario. Meetings will begin at 10 a.m. Following the noon adjournment, sessions will again be held in tile afternoon, Evening meetings will begin at 8 o’clock. Nyssa members are asked to furnish salad for the noon lun- cheon. Cleonna Applegate of Central Point, Ore., assembly president, will make an official visit in Nys sa at 8 o’clock Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the regular meeting. A no-host dinner is planned at 6:30 in Brow nie’s cafe. All members are urged to at tend this meeting. +—+ Winter Driving? Mrs. Frank T. Morgan was hos tess Sept. 12 to ANK Garden club members with Mrs. Fred Savage assisting with 1:30 dessert. Mrs. Ray Wilson of Parma made several arrangements using only foliage and accessories in appropriate containers. She also made a small horn of plenty with fruits and vegetables scaled to smaller size. Mmes. Harvey Mende, Ronnie Post, Fred Gray, Howard Strong, Leslie Synider and Sidney Mc- Dowell of the Pedal Pushers club in Boise were guests. Next meeting will be held Oct. 10 at the home of Mrs. M. L. Mrs. Murray Ruskin of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cloninger of Seattle were recent house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Albert No- theis. Mr. and Mrs. John Smith of Grand Island, Neb., visited re- cently with his brother, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Smith and family of the Mitchell Butte community. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Hobson and Mr. and Mrs. James Langley at tended the wedding Sept. 11 of Doris Stiles and Robert Snell in Burns. Mrs. William Price and Mrs. Lester Auker of Ontario. Mrs. Ralph Hite of Owyhee and Mrs. Buddy Smith and children of Nyssa were recent Sunday dinner guests at the E. B. Smith home. The young married group of Owyhee ward met Sept. 7 for les son night with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Montgomery. Fifteen were pres ent, including Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Stoker of Burley. A social hour was spent following the lesson. Mrs. Lillian Gerboth and Mrs. Amanda Lewis of Weiser, Lester Schultz of Seattle and Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Counsil were recent dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. Ora Newgen. Sunset Valley auxiliary met Sept. 7 with Mrs. Charles Schwei zer. Future plans were discussed by the eight members present. Mrs. Ed Nielsen of Nu Acres was a recent Sunday dinner guest at the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Elver Nielsen and family.
