SEPTEMBER 14. 1961 The Sugar City Council Hears City Auditor's Report, Discusses Annexation of Labor Camp, Authorizes $3000 for Swim Pool Work Uud in Your Eye No. It Pure At the regular monthly session Tuesday night the city council heard the auditor’s report for the year ending June 30, 1961, discussed at length the possibility of annexing the labor camp into the city, denied license for Wilson’s rooms and authorized considerable expenditure on the swimming pool land grounds. Mayor Grant Rinehart gave a brief explanation of the au ditor’s report and said the city | was in the best financial con One-Car Accident Sun. Claims Life Of Young Nyssan Funeral services for Carolyn Tomiko Nakashiipa will be con ducted at 2 o’clock Saturday, Sept. 16, at Nyssa Methodist church. The Rev. Paul Ludlow will offi ciate and will be assisted by the Rev. George Uyemura of Ontario Community Methodist church. Arrangements are under direc tion of Lienkaemper funeral home. Miss Nakashima succumbed shortly before midnight Sunday in a one-car mishap on highway 99 south of Salem. Oregon state police said her car left the free way and struck an oak tree. She was alone in the automobile and the cause of her losing control of the car is unknown. She had been to Hood River to visit her grandparents and an uncle and was returning to Cor vallis when the accident occur red. Miss Nakashima was pro nounced dead on arrival at Al- bany General hospital. Carolyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nakashima of 415 North First street, Nyssa, would have been 21 years old at the end of this month. She was graduated with the class of 1957 from Nyssa high school and was an outstanding science student. She would have been a senior this fall at Oregon State university in Corvallis where she was studying phar macy. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Har ry, Jr. (Skipper) who is stationed at the Marine Recruit Training depot in San Diego, Calif., and Roger of the home. Other survivors are maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Iwatsuki of Hood River. Harry, Jr. was summoned home from San Diego due to his sis ter’s death and arrived Tuesday evening in Boise by plane. Johnson Elected State President Of Realtor Group Ken Johnson, Vale’s flying real tor, was elected president of the Oregon association of Real Estate boards Sunday. The selection was announced at the closing session of the three- day convention at Multnomah ho tel in Portland. Johnson, who deals mainly in the sale of large ranch properties in Eastern Oregon, is one of the country’s few flying realtors. He pilots his own aircraft thousands of miles on business and attend ing conventions. J. Phillips of Ontario was elect ed as a member of the new board of directors. State School Head Slates Vale Meeting Wednesday, Sept. 27 State education officials will hold a meeting at Vale Sept. 27 with school board members, school administrators, legislators and news media, according to a recent announcement by Emery Skinner, county superintendent of schools. Dr. Leon P. Minear, state sup erintendent of public education, will address the group on the role of the state department of edu cation and how it can best serve the schools. Tom Rigby, execu tive secretary of the Oregon School Board association, will talk on changes in school offices. The meeting will be at the Starlite cafe, starting with a no host noon luncheon.
