M axiield, a freshm an majoring in science, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. U. Maxiield, 212 North 4th, Nyssa. He :s a 1956 graduate of Nyssa high school. S. P. Kelley review ed the his tory of the association and in troduced a leading artist of the valley .Mrs. George M arkham and several of her students of Ontario, to the group. Mrs. M ark ham w ill be one of the instruc tors of the classes to be held the first and third Mondays in the month beginning Feb. 18. Officers elected were Mrs Shorty Brandt, president, Mrs. Don Wilson, vice president. Mrs. Clifford Fox, secretary, and Mrs Ray Harmon, publicity chairm an. Ler ion Meeting Held Friday The American Legion A uxilia ry m et at the home of Mrs. Angie Cook, president, Friday afternoon. The Crusade for Freedom, fund drive for voice of America in Europe was discussed. Canisters are placed in the First National and post office hero for collection. Mrs. H. E. Collins read the legis lative bulletin, published by the Legion, pertaining to Legion ac tivities in congress. Mrs. Nellie Bennett presented literature on civil defense which the Legion is starting activity on Mrs. Leon Roberts is a new m em ber of the organization. Any wo men interested in joining the aux iliary'. has a m ale m em ber of the family in the Legion, is invited to join, especially young women. Refreshm ents were served by the hostess. Club Contributes Money To Hospital The Jolly Jane club of Big I Bend m ade one of several con-1 tributions Tuesday afternoon to I the polio wing of M alheur Me- j m orial hospital. The $10 contribution was pre sented to the hospital by Mrs Harvey Hatch and Mrs. Ray C art w right according to a report from j the hospital. Called To Utah By Mrs. Father's Death Henry Zobell was called to Utah last Friday by the death of her father, Dr. J. M. Bernheisel of Logan.
