The A drian team m em bers w ere accom panied by th e physical education teacher. Miss Joyce Dean. A fter th e gam e, the w inning team , the College of Idaho squad, said publicly th at th e A drian team was th e best high school team they h av e ev er played. New Looey Home On Army Leave Newell Heights — Don New- bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. C harles Newbell of Newell Heights and grandson of Mr and Mrs. C harles G arrison of Nyssa and Mrs. N el lie N ew bell, is on an 18-day fur- ough from th e US A rm y Air Force. N ew bell g rad uated on Oct. 13 from the train in g course at L a r edo, Tex. and received his com mission as second lieutenant. He will rep o rt back to Del Rio, Tex. after his leave to tak e an ad vanced train in g course. His m other flew to L aredo to 1 attend his g raduation and t h e n , came hom e w ith him by autom o bile. He is a g rad u ate of Boise Ju n io r College and A drian Union ; high school. K esler, son of Mr. and Mrs. C larence K esler, arrived hom e W ednesday from K orea w here he had served w ith the U nited States A rm y for the past 16 m onths. K esler entered the service in O ctober, 1952. COM PLETES BASIC TRAINING A /3c Don Poulson has finished his basic train in g at S an Antonio, Texas, w here he passed tests in th e upper th ird of his class, which enables him to take fu rth e r tra in ing in accounting. He is now stationed at Lake C harles, La. Poulson is th e son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Poulson. A drian High H as G ridiron W in And H om ecom ing D ance A drian — The A drian high school football team tangled re cently w ith th e gridders from M iddleton (Idaho) high—and clob bered th e opposition 12 to zero. T he gam e was the annual hom e com ing tussle. A dance was held th e sam e evening. A t half-tim e during the game, A m ber McCoy w as crow ned hom ecom ing queen. The queen and h er a tte n d a n ts had been chosen by p opular votes from the ran k s of the senior girls. K a r en M cK inley and B ernadine Price w ere atten d an ts. J The first concert of the 1954-55 season in the M alheur C om m un i ity C oncert series will be held in the O ntario High school au d ito r ium Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 8 p. m. The Men of Song w ill be the opening attraction. j This versatile group has had seven years experience on the concert stage w ith num erous ra d io and television appearances. On last season’s to u r the group sang in the W hite House for P resident and Mrs. Eisenhow er. Am ong th e radio and TV shows they have appeared on have I been The Show of Shows, the F red A llen Show, and C aravan of Stars. Joe C am pbell, tenor, is a g ra d uate of Ju llia rd and C olum bia U niversity schools of m usic, and has appeared w ith leading sym phony orchestras. C arl H onzak, tenor, has sung solo appearances w ith th e C hic ago S ym phony and th e Chicago O pera Association. He is a g ra d uate of th e Univ. of Chicago. Roger W hite, baritone, is w ide ly-know n in radio and concert w ork. He has been heard on T ex aco S ta r T heater, H arvest of S tars and C arnegie Hall. He holds degrees from Colum bia U niversity and was a fellow ship stu d en t at Ju llia rd G rad u ate School of Music. Edm und K arlsrud, bass, has had num erous solo appearances in radio, television and concert He atten d ed M innesota U niv ers ity and the Ju llia rd School of Music as a scholarship student. He organized the group. C harles T ouchette, p ia n ist-a r ran g er, has been on the concert stage for m any years. He has toured the w orld as accom paniest to m any noted singing stars. He is a g raduate of the New E ngland conservatory of Music.
