Owen W ith Safe, Economical Infrared Lamps M ore and more farm operators are turning to electric heat lamps for brood ing chicks, ptgs, and lambs. Infrared lamps provide comfortable heat regard less of room temperatures They may be used singly — or in multiple installa tions. Fixtures for one to ten lamps are readily available A single 250 watt infrared lamp is adequate for the needs of 75 to 100 chicks in cold weather. It encourages feeding and keeps pens dry and easy to clean. Infrared lamps in the brooder pen keep lambs from chilling and help prevent the ewe from neglecting her young. In the farrowing pen, they provide warmth for the pigs away from their mother s body, reducing the danger of their being rolled on and suffocated. Electric beat lamps have proved them selves efficient and economical for boih large and small operations. They offer tha u t n v it in flextb’e beat control w th a m inim um of beat loss.
