S. primary held a valentine purty Wednesday afternoon under the direction of Mrs. Elwood Flinders, president, and other officers and teachers. Red pop and valentine cookies were ser ved to approximately 200 youngsters. The event was the climax to a special drive for tile benefit of the Primary Children's hospital which Is being built In Salt Lake City. Special honor was given to the class having raised the most pennies for the hospital l.g n . 4 ...II l . d i . thaw. l.*4 a y t NIC 8 - VALENTINE PARTY HELD A valentine party was held by the Needle Belles 4-H club Friday, February 10 Games were enjoyed, with prizes going to Marylin Myers and Jean Walker. Refreshments of a cup of candy hearts, a banana split and a cup cake were served to each girl and valentines were ex changed. A program wyes given as follows: Buton act, Sharon Selph; lap dance, Carole Mink; violin and clarinet duet, Marylin Myers and Sally Lawrence: piano solo, Gloria Oonyer; piano solo. Missouri, Mr. and Mrs John Murphy, Mr and Mrs Irvin Topliff and Teresa and Mr and Mrs Edward Topliff and Rita Mae of Nyssa Governor Liken Nyssa Welcome ■ Governor Douglas McKay has written to the Nyssa chamber of commerce thanking the organiz ation for the hospitality extended to him and Mrs. McKay on the occasion of their recent visit to Nyssa. The governor said "Mrs. McKay and I enjoyed the privilege oi be ing in Nyssa recently, particularly did we appreciate the many kind nesses shown us while we were there. "Every detail was handled so well, and I thought the arrange ments for the program certainly indicated that a great deal of work had been done by you and other members of the chamber. "W e shall not soon forget the pleasant visit we had at Nyssa". About the time Oovernor McKay was writing the letter, the chamber of commerce was sending to him a quantity of food products rep resentative of this community. The food had not been received by the governor when he wrote the letter of thanks. The chamber sent two sacks of potatoes donated by the Simplot company and Klaus Ten- sen, two sacks of onions given by the Eastern Oregon Produce comp any, a 50 pound sack of granulated sugar and a carton of powdered sugar, given by the Amalgamated Sugar company, and a case of corn donated by the Idaho Canning company. Mrs. G rant Rinehart, chairman for the observance this year has announced that the program will begin at 11:30 with meditation and silent prayer. At 11:45 the Oirl Scouts will present a special World Day of Prayer service. Following this service a lunch will be served by the women of the hostess church. At 1:15, the World Day of Pray er service will begin, the theme for this year being. "Faith For Our Times ”, The World Day of Prayer is ob served annually by the women of all churches In countries around the world on the first Friday of the Lenten season.
